Doesn't look like Gord will be coming to Alberta on his tour , but it looks like i'll see the Hip anyways , in B.C. Nothing on the Hip site about it so i'll keep my fingers crossed . Whooooooo Hoooooooooooo ! :thumb:

Here's a good one...
I take my 6 year old nephew (Jake) to the Jays game on Monday night. There is some traffic and it takes us forty minutes to get down to the stadium. After fifteen minutes of talking with each other, he starts looking through my CD's (he is much more artisticly inclined than he is sports - no worries), and he grabs a CD and says "Put this in, please put this in." He does not know that he has chosen the first Hip CD. So we throw it in and of course, Smalltown Bringdown is first,...WELL he goes nuts! He is screaming "Turn it up! Turn it up!" By now it's cranking pretty good. So the song ends and he says 'Again, Again..." So I play it again...over and over until we get to the game. So the whole time in the game he's singing to himself "Smalldown Bringaround" followed by "It's a sad day bobbin' all around" - Hilarity. :lol: Jays crush 'em again, and we leave.
Well, now it's a race back to the car to hear Smalldown Bringaround, we get in the car, we put it on and phone his Mom. Now his Mom is howling because all she can hear is him screaming "Turn it up, Turn it up".
No kidding, we played the tune from downtown T.O. to the far end of Burlington - 45 minutes - with him staring at me, both of us singing, trying to learn the lyrics. I must add, he even had the Gordie head-bob thing going - funny. So I drop him off at his Mom's and he runs inside, and I can hear him saying as I leave - "Mom, mom! - do we have Smalldown Bringaround here?"
Two things - Number one, that's what Uncles are good for - get them spinning like a top and drop them off (oops) and number two, another Hip fan is born!
I had to tell you. 8)
Anyone else have a Hip story with their kids/relatives?

Anyone buy the new OLP live album? If so is it any good?

The lineup for the SARS benefit show featuring the Stones was just announced. AC/DC, Guess Who, Sam Roberts, Sass Jordan (wtf?), along with many others will be featured, with many more apparently still to be announced over the next few weeks. So far no Hip, wonder if they'll do it or if they've been approached. With Gord's love of TO, you would think its a shoe in. July 30th is the date, $21.50 are tickets and go on sale Friday, June 27th

The Tragically Hip first made Canadian history by having their self-titled debut EP sell the most copies of any EP in Canada. That record has since been shattered thanks to Sam Roberts’ Inhuman Condition, but front man of the Hip, Gord Downie, plans on raising the bar by making another Canadian first.

In partnership with MapleMusic Recordings, the Kingston native is turning MP3s into gold by making his recent concert performances available for purchase by fans on MapleMusic.com and <!-- w --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.wienerart.net">www.wienerart.net</a><!-- w --> (Downie’s website). The Country Of Miracles shows from Downie’s recent solo tour are available from the online store for $10 and the bootlegs are uploaded on the site within days of the performance. How very Pearl Jam of him!

This marks the first time a Canadian musician or retailer has issued something similar to this technology, which should enhance the exposure of Downie’s second solo album, Battle Of The Nudes. The concept of recording and selling live shows has been something Downie and his manager and Canadian Idol judge, Jake Gold has considered doing for quite some time.

"This is exactly the reason that Gord and I felt that MapleMusic Recordings was the right place for him to be, " says Gold. "The fact that the fans have access to live recordings of all the shows is something we’ve been talking about for many years."

After signing to MapleMusic Recordings this idea and service was brought to life through the technological help of MapleSolutions, which are both parts of the MapleCore companies. Along with the first two bootlegged shows released last Monday, three more shows are to be posted some time this week on MapleMusic.com as well announcements concerning other artists who may be involved with the new downloadable service.
