LAS VEGAS, Nevada (Reuters) -- A British man who sold all his possessions, including his clothes, stood in a rented tuxedo on Sunday surrounded by family and friends and bet everything on a single spin of the roulette wheel.

He won't go home empty handed.

Ashley Revell, a 32-year-old Londoner, sold all his possessions in March, took $135,300 to the Plaza Hotel in Las Vegas, did some low stakes gambling and then placed everything he had left on "Red."

The wheel was spun, a crowd of supporters including his Mum and Dad from London went wild, the ball bobbled over the slots and landed on Red '7' -- and Revell walked away with $270,600.

"It all happened so quickly, it was spinning before I knew it," Revell said, adding he did not intend to try to double it again. He gave a $600 tip to the croupier and plans to party -- and buy some clothes.

"It's really down to my friends and family and Mum and Dad," he told Reuters Television. "I knew even if I lost I'd always have a home to go to."

"I'm still against it," said his Dad. "He shouldn't have done it. He's a naughty boy. I tell my kids they shouldn't gamble. I've got four others and they're all going to want to go the same way."

"It's just brilliant," said Ashley Hames, a friend from London in Las Vegas for the occasion. "He's put his neck on the line and got away with it. It's absolutely great."

"It bobbled for a second and I just thought, 'Oh no, it's not going to do it,'" said another friend, James Frederick. "But it did and I'm made up for him. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy."

Asked if he wanted to try his luck again, Revell said: "No that's it for me. I think he'd like me to do it again, but no that's it," gesturing to a casino host. "I don't want to ride my luck," he said as the champagne began to flow.

This week, the gambling spirits had seemed against him. He put in a week gambling about $3,000 in a bid to raise his pot.

Revell, recently a professional gambler, said he decided to take a big plunge while he was still young and had raised the stakes as high as possible, including selling his clothes.

"I like to do things properly," he said.

Revell said he had planned to have a friend videotape his bet-it-all spin, but Britain's Sky One television decided it was worth a short reality series, called "Double or Nothing."

Sky will not pay him, he says, but a crew from Dai4 Films has followed his preparations and covered the spin at the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. It also plans to follow him for a month afterward.

I was checking the Sarnia Bayfest website to see what time tickets went on sale tomorrow and found that they are on sale now. I just purchased four tickets for The Hip.

I went to the last Bayfest that The Hip played at and it was oversold and poorly organized. (The Hip played great, though). I was very disappointed with the concert facility, but I can't pass up the chance to see my favorite band so close to home. Let's hope things are better this time.

Has anyone seen it, or does anyone have a rip of it that they could send? I'm not too sure if it is worth buying, but I would love to see it. If anyone has a review then thats cool too. Anyone??

Saw it this weekend, and man oh man, it is something sweet!

No one would believe the premise of the movie if I tried to explain it, so I won't. If you have a couple of hours you are willing to part with, rent this movie, watch it on Movie Network, just see it. It's incredible, and impossible to explain all at once. And the plot outline at IMDB doesn't do it justice. There is so much more visually in the movie that can't be conveyed in words.

Anyone else have problems with puretracks? The damn thing just won't send me a licence to listen to the new song. Everything on my end is fine. When I tried to contact the help section, I received an e-mail telling me that this e-mail account is no longer active. Then it said I should look up trouble-shooting on their help page....yet, the help page refuses to take my password "invalid user". They just took my $1.06.

Hip Hats a Big Hit

THE COUNTDOWN for the Maple Leafs' new BB 16 project has begun. Toronto players started sporting the baseball hats with that configuration this week, the BB standing for Toronto playoff legend Bill Barilko, the 16 for the number of post-season wins it takes to earn the Stanley Cup.

The hat is linked to the Tragically Hip song Fifty Mission Cap, which details Barilko's disappearance on a fishing trip after scoring the Cup-winning overtime goal in the 1951 playoffs. The plane he and a companion used was not discovered until 10 years later, the next time Toronto won the Cup and the lyrics to the song are framed in the Leafs dressing room. Ray Bourque and the Colorado Avalanche used the same theme with Mission 16W hats worn during their Cup run in 2001.

The Wasaga Beach show has the potential to be legendary. I spent my childhood summers there, and I just about lost it when I read the boys were finally putting on a festival gig there. (Okay, so I lost it when Casey and Finnegan would pop up. So what, I'm easily impressed... wanna fight about it?)

The Huron Sunset...
The Hip...

Let's get something organized. I can bring a blanket, some sunscreen, a couple of hats, maybe a beer or a Ginger Ale or two... but really, an all day gathering of Hip Heads is in order.

I say we meet at the arcade and then hit the bean bag slides before the show.

Ah... Wasaga Beach... Does anybody else remember the Huge Ghetto Blaster shaped bus AM 680 used to park along the beach front? They'd blast CC Penniston and Mr. Big till the sun went down! Memories...

i bought the song of pure tracks and want a wav/mp3 copy to enjoy over and over again in my truck

Are the hip against file trading now or do all puretracks files come with a protected licence??
