Anybody here listen to these guys? I think they're by far the best rock band to come out of this country since the Hip, and I've made it my goal to turn as many people onto them as I can. Lead singer/songwriter John K. Samson often cites Gord Downie as an influence, and it's easy to see why. His lyrics are beautiful, interesting, and highly literate. Even Gord Downie himself admitted he's been taking notes.

If these guys come through your town anytime soon, I recommend you check them out. Their live show is killer! And make sure you check out their latest disc, "Reconstruction Site". It's an absolute gem!

I'm not sure if anyone read the article about a waterloo company who rented out the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium on Sunday and gathered it's employees and friends which were treated to a surprise rock concert featuring the barenaked ladies and aerosmith. Imagine you went to one of your work functions and then the BNL and Aerosmith are performing, talk about wow.

I know that the hip have played a few of these Business events. I wonder how much it would cost for a gig like that. Which leads me to believe why won't the hip play a warm up gig for their next tour for hipbasers. most likely they'll play some sort of a warm up gig somewhere, why not for us. Is it to late for this idea, or can we still get something accomplished. I'd be willing to help out in any way.

When the Hip finally do decide to retire to their nice Ontario homes, how do you want them to do it.......

I would want them to do it much in the same way as The Band....with a huge concert with the artists that have influenced them over the years.

I just bought the Last Waltz so that made me think of how i would like to see the hip go when they finally do, and lets hope for another 60 or 70 yrs and the hip are well into their 100s :jump :thumb:

Hiccups
(From “Daredevil”)
Please correct errors!

There was choking dust in the air
Your heart went out in sync with your lungs
Them hiccups out of nowhere
The kind that just come and come

There was a palpable interest
And it kinda grew from there
Everyone had opinions
They came flying in from everywhere;

“Take a drink and stand on your head.”
And “Plug your nose, oh, and count backwards from ten.”
And “Hold your breath and push your fingers into your ears
Until your eyes well up with tears.”

They came from all sides and down through the years
And just then, out of nowhere, your hiccups disappeared

100 Years Old/ Freaked
Please correct errors!

(incoherent at first)
Aw, it’s,
It’s really cold right here.
It’s too cold up here.
I see more blurry lights than starry nights.
I see more blurry lights than starry nights.
Whoo!

??They said he needs to roam??
And when he doesn’t, does it matter anyway?
Trouble down at the station
Wore all the dreams away
You can get down for the game
And you wouldn’t catch a cold
You could run down and feel
And feel one hundred years old

I see more blurry lights than starry nights.
I see more blurry lights than starry nights.

If yer freaked, I’m fucked
I love you that much
If yer freaked, I’m fucked
I know it doesn’t sound like much

Just wondering if some of you wouldn't mind ranking your top TTH live shows from 1988-1995. Not necessarily from concerts attended, but in terms of shows that you've listened to.

Thanks,
Steve
