Hey Gang,

First time poster, long time lurker.

OK so WBUF in Buffalo is "Welcoming" the Hip to Darien Lake. Even gave away tickets when they went on sale...but here's the rub...they never play the Hip!!

You MAY hear Courage during their "Rockin the 80s" weekend, which seems to be every other weekend. But they'll play Kid Rock's new song :nooooo

They play the Hip as often they play any recent Rush songs, only Tom Sawyer or Freewill. (Sorry, Rush is my fav) I even emailed them asking for more Hip and more Rush from after 1992.

The only redeeming factors are Howard Stern in the morning and they are NOT 97 Rock, the Lynard Skynard / Supertramp station!

This guy kills me. He sells DFN albums for $39USD (and I know he's sold at least a few) under the guise that they are from his personal collection ("As with all of my collectable records this Item is listed buy it now at a fair price.....") when you can buy the same album at MapleMusic for $15 CDN. My guess is he's buying them from MapleMusic and turning around and selling them for his outrageous price. I guess there is nothing illegal with what he is doing, but still - duping Hip fans hurts!

Concert DVD's are becoming better and better and more and more back catalogue is being released every week.

Which brings me to my question.....

What are the top 5 concert DVD's you have bought or seen? and no cop outs by including DVD bootlegs of Hip shows or Celine Dion performances from Vegas!


5) Pearl Jam Live From The Showbox Theatre....intimate gig....awesome show

4) INXS Live Baby Live....live from Wembly...the pinnacle of their career

3) REM Perfect Square ...beautiful surroundings..with a great stage display ...and a great set....Micahel Stipe puts on a hell of a show.

2) AC/DC Live From Donnignton ....all i can say is... turn it loud!!!!

1) U2 Go Home Live From Slane Castle (i could have loaded this list with U2 DVD's but i am only pickin one)...simply the best.

Anyone else seen this? I was doing some record shopping today and I found a used copy for $15. It's amazing! Easily one of the best DVD concerts I've ever seen. It was filmed over two nights at Slane Castle in Ireland during the summer of 2001, and the band is in fine form playing their asses off in front of their hometown fans. In the liner notes it mentions that Bono's father had died of cancer just three days before these shows took place, and you can really see/feel the emotion from him as he passionately belts out tunes like "One", "Beautiful Day", and "Kite".

Some of the crowd shots are great too, where you see thousands of people singing along to every word and draping themselves in the Irish flag. It kinda reminds me of an outdoor Hip show. Anyway, it's a very cool DVD. If you're a U2 fan, I highly recommend it.

holy shit i think i just watched one of the fuckin greatest shows in a long god damn time. I t is of FX it is called rescue me about ny fire department post 9/11

I know this thread is strictly for the Hip but I thought you all may be interested. The "In Between Evolution" section has the unaltered drawings that are in the lyric book and in the "Bio" section I added a pic of me painting the back cover of IBE.

If you missed the Mod club album premier.. be sure to watch the entire concert including the 30 minute post live to air performance on sympatico.msn.ca! Sympatico will air the webcast, which was shot entirely on HD on July 22nd.

I have gathered some of the info i have heard and read and put together what some of the songs on IBE are about feel free to add in the ones i don't have (or add your own opinion) and correct me if i am wrong

1 Heaven - Written for/about Dan Snyder

2 Summer - ???

3 Gus - A polar bear and his bout with depression

4 Vaccination Scars - I know i know this one....someone please help!!

5 Nashville - The current state of the world

6 New O is Beat - Apparently about Gord's favourite coffee shop in New Orleans being closed

7 Everywhere - Apparently as others have thought its about George Harrison

8 Makeshift - ??

9 Meanstreak - As gord said in Wasaga its about a small town and the ways they are

10 Heart of the Melt - Its about a relationship that has lost it's spark

11 Copenhagen - Could this be as simple as a song about a night spent in Copenhagen?
