Some really funny stuff on there even if you don't a lot about Canadian Culture!

In Elvis Costello's song "Town Cryer" on the Imperial Bedrooms album, he sings "I'm so teddy-bear tender and tragically hip". Does anyone know if there is any connection between this line (from 1982) and the Hip's name? Or did they both get the phrase from the same source?

Anyway, Silver Road was brought up in another thread by Skippy who said he sorta considered it a Hip song. Just curious if people think it's "Hip" enough to include on my Hip lyric site.

I never included it before cuz I was unsure if I should. (I totally forgot about the MWB OST songs! lol) I have covers on my site that weren't written by The Hip but were performed by them. Did The Hip write Silver Road? Is it "a Hip song"? Or no?

I'm new to this board and I'm hoping to tape The Hip at The Quest on 10/15. I need to know the band's current taping policy??? Is open taping still being allowed??? I sure hope so and I can't wait to see all you Candians drive south for the show!!! Thanks! James
