Hi! Well with the audio gear i bought back in may for a hip show, and wasn't allowed to bring it in. I finally got to use my gear at a recent Blue Rodeo show.

There's been some even better one's over the years. They ALMOST always get mentioned in the weekly preview as one to check out, with a great little write up to go along with it. Last time through on IVL was the first time in a while that they didn't. Glad to see 'em back in the local critic's hot picks, though. They certainly deserve it.

Is anyone planning on taping audio and/or video of The Hip's upcoming show at Harbour Station, Saint John, NB on December 3rd?

A lyrics question, just for Brazle. The question being, who wrote the lyrics for Up to Here? Are they all GD as on later albums, or are they partially Gord Sinclair's (or other band members')?

Reason for the question is that there is a noticeable change in the band's lyrics after Up to Here.

About half the songs on UTH are fictional ballads (in the sense of "a narrative poem") in the third person. (e.g. Opiated, She Didn't Know, I'll Believe in You.) But the only third-person narratives I can think of post-UTH are Wheat Kings and Fiddler's Green, neither of which has a fictional basis.

So I was a-wondering ... and thinking I am obviously spending too much time with the Hip.... Is this GD developing his skills, or a sign that someone else wrote about half the UTH lyrics?

Well first off, I would like to apologize for this taking me so long to accomplish. There are no excuses. These pictures should have been available to everyone long ago. So sorry for that.

If you go to the "Most Recent Collections" part of the site, you can view the pictures. They were taken over two nights in September at the Fox Theatre in Detroit and the Odeon in Cleveland.

You will notice very quickly that the pictures go from blurry and kinda crappy at the beginning to some great ones that (I think anyways) really capture the essence of the Hip's live show.

I lowered the resolution of the photos I posted so that they would load a lot easier for everyone. Hopefully you won't have too much trouble.

And always, I would love to hear your comments and feedback. It is always welcome.

I just got an email from House of Blues mentioning there'll be a Hip concert at the Fort Williams Gardens (in Thunder Bay, I presume) on Wed, Nov 24th.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday.

(This show had not been announced alongside the other shows although I'm sure you Thunder Bayers expected it)
