Holiday Single, New Album On Pearl Jam's Radar

While Pearl Jam continues work on its first studio album since splitting with longtime label Epic, two releases are on the horizon to tide fans over. The first is "The Molo Sessions," featuring tracks frontman Eddie Vedder recorded this fall in Seattle with the Walmer High School choir of Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

The disc will be available Dec. 15 via Pearl Jam's official Web site, with proceeds benefiting the Seattle-based Molo Care, which raises funds for schools in Port Elizabeth.

Five days later, Pearl Jam's Ten Club fan organization will begin shipping its annual fan club single, which this year will feature a cover of the Jackson Five-popularized "Someday at Christmas" and a live recording of Vedder and the Walmer choir performing Pearl Jam's "Better Man" in Seattle.

As for the band's upcoming studio album, it will be released next year "on the BMG label," according to Pearl Jam's site. At deadline, it was unclear if the set will be issued on one of BMG's label imprints such as J or RCA, or via the Ten Club's in-house label and distributed by BMG. The latter partnership brought the concert release "Live at Benaroya Hall" to the marketplace this summer.

After its run of fall shows on the Vote for Change tour, the band is plotting its return to the road next year. According to Pearl Jam's site, Europe will be on the itinerary for the first time since 2000.

In other news, Vedder has contributed the solo track "Our Love Is To Remember" to the surfing film "A Broke Down Melody," which features singer/songwriter Jack Johnson is out now on DVD. The soundtrack is expected to be released in the spring by Johnson's Brushfire label.

Pearl Jam capped its Epic tenure last month with its first retrospective, "rearviewmirror: greatest hits 1991-2001." The double-disc set debuted at No. 16 on The Billboard 200.

I only can say: WOW. I had no idea this show was in circulation worldwide. I mean: believe it or not, I taped this show. Here's a little story: I heard the Hip for the first time in november 1990 and was sold. I really loved them. A few months later a friend of mine who worked at the club as a cook came to me and said: hey, you wanna cook for the Tragically hip? And I went: say what??? He told me they were gonna play there and I could help out in the kitchen and meet the guys, so I did. It was awesome. (We had vegetarian chili) Earlier that day I met the guys and asked if I could make an audience recording of the show. Gordon said: That recorder sucks, why don't you use the one connected to the mixing deck. My mouth fell open. He told me they collected bootlegs of the Police an the Golden Earring and some other bands. I could tape the show if they could have a copy. A bit of a shame the engineer forgot to start the tape at the beginning, I was still backstage when all of a sudden the band decided to start the show. I rushed to the front of house to start the tape, unfortunately halfway the first song. Also Fight is missing from this tape, it was played between Three pistols and Little bones, but during that song the tape had to be switched. On my copy of the tape it's still there (cut), but I guess somewhere in the line of traders it got lost. Anyway, after the show Gordon and the guys (including me) listened to the tape in the dressing room and we had a blast. They wanted to have the tape and promised me a copy if I could show them a Record shop where they could buy bootlegs (I happened to know that shop). So the next day (they had 2 days of, I guess) I met the guys again in the city of Hengelo and took them to a little place called Pop-eye. They loved it. At the time law-invorcement didn't work as well and boots were all over the place. Gordon smiled and gave me a copy of the tape they made in the touring bus: "as promised" he said. Well, I guess that's most of the story. My tape has been played so much i keep it in the faults, so I'm happy to have this one on cd now.

looks like this will be the only show on the tour that was not taped :nooooo :nooooo

if i had any equipment i would have taped it for sure. it would have been a great view from the 5th row on bobby's side Sad

This seems like a cool idea. Anyone using them right now?? Or tried using them. 25$ for unlimited DVD rentals per month sounds like a great idea. Free 2 month trial right now..think im gonn try it

As of 8:47 am this morning, the Ottawa and London "pre-order" links have dissapeared from livedownloads.com.

More technical difficulties than we thought? Or are these two shows about to fall into the "available" category?
