Caught the James McKenty and the Spades show in Kingston last night. Bumped into a few familiar faces....Chris Koster (from the Causeway show), Sarah Harmer, but the best was seeing Gord Sinclair who jumped on stage and joined the band for a couple of songs on acoustic guitar...looked right at home too :thumb:

Alright, a friend of mine and I used to do this with Metallica lyrics, so I thought it could work out here. Here's the rules:

1) You come up with a two word phrase from a Tragically Hip song. The rest of us have to guess what song it's from and print the lyric. Then, the winner comes up with the next one.

2)No conjunctions, or anything like that, at least not for now. Too damn hard to figure out which song "and the" is from, and with simple phrases it's possible to have multiple songs with the phrase.

3) In the case of multiple songs, first one to name any of them wins. This is why you print the full lyric.

Got it? Okay, i'll get the ball rolling with a really easy one:

This thing has been eating my life for the past few days. Every level is a different riddle, of sorts. It's had me staring at my screen for hours, goin' "Huh?"

I'm at lvl16 right now, and stumped.

My Dad has been trying to track down a song he heard, I believe in from the 80's. He said it had heavy bass. The lyrics were something as follows:

"Oh, Donna
Do ya still wanna?
You (called me up) when I was eating piranha"

Every verse was about a different girl, one about Anna? Every verse had piranha in it.

I know this is very vague information, but I haven't been able to track it down online. Anyone that can help at all gets a gold star. Sorry if this thread seems useless or misplaced; feel free to flame if you deem it necessary

So what are the BEST seats you've ever had for a hip concert? Lets talk actual seats, not floors...but if you got a cool Floors story lets hear it :lol:

I had Row 4 with at the Hummingbird Centre a few years back. They were touring with Sam Roberts.

Actually, I met Sam after the show, and he gave me one of the Hip Setlists too! Gave it to my g/f tho, she's a way bigger fan.

So, whats yer best seats? What venue/city?

I used to get emails everytime about concert pre-sales and general updates about the Hip. I signed up to Thehip.com with the TTH card from IVL a few years ago, but I haven't got the last few presales and I don't want it to happen again.

Where should I sign up? I just re-signed up at Thehip.com under the mailing list. Is there somewhere else I need to register at?

Been reading some of the recent threads in here...what songs to put on the compilation cd, worst songs to not put on compilation cd, gord is gay thread, live between us wall, and quite frankly, why do all the threads end up with a bunch of people attacking another person who voiced their opinion. Should NOIS be on the compilation cd? Yes, is it everyone's top ten favourite hip song, probably not, maybe some, so who cares? If someon voted on it, great, if not, great. Is Gord gay? most likely not, is Gord is gay, gay? probably not, maybe so, who the f*** cares? Can we make a promise here, that when the compilation cd is finally released, along with the dvd and new material, that a thread is not created as to what you think of the compilation cd, so we don't waste space here saying, "I like it", "I don't like it", "This song should have been on it", "This song shouldn't be on it". We all have our opinions, we all have our favourites, everyone will not agree with everyone else's, so let's be glad we have the Hip, their music, their legacy. Its great to be part of a community like this, but when a thread goes to 4,5,6 pages long, and all everyone does is bitch and start pissing matches with everyone else, what's the point. And yes I see the irony, that this can be considered a pissing match as well. But is this really the intent of this forum and community? Let's get back to basics here. Support the Hip, spread the music, talk about the band/music, where their playing, what their playing, how their playing....and when the hell are we getting that private gig for us? We talked about supporting one of their charities (ie, Camp Trilllium) to get them to play for us. Let's put the effort into something like that, rather than busting someone's nuts because they want Sherpa on the compilation cd.

Sorry for the length, but I don't think these recent threads/posts are what this forum should be about...
