I just got an e-mail from TTH announcing a new concert coming up in Quebec on July 15 and two new concert annonucements in the near future. Can't wait for the 2 concert announcements coming up, hopefully near Toronto.

I know you guys were worried, but no need to fear! My internet is back up and faster than ever! It was a hard week, but I pulled through!

The talk at the bars after the announcement yesterday was that everybody would run because the entry fee was so low. I argued that was a good thing... and I was wrong:

Are there any Hipbasers going to any shows in Europe. I would love to hear from you. I was thinking about going to one myself. Would be a great vacation, it would be a great way to shake off the cobwebs!!

Do you believe correlation implies causation?

I downloaded this awhile a go...as in a long while ago. Anyways I didn't get the other show, but recently my cousin did. So we're going to swap. Problem is I can't rip about half the songs off of each CD.

What happens, is it gets retardedly slow ripping the song, then stops altoghether and gives me a "cannot complete...blabla..turn error correction on."

So...yeah I'm using Windows Media player to rip this stuff. Can anyone tell me how to turn error correction on?

And if worse comes to worse, would someone be able to wire me via msn or something, the songs that I can't rip? (Cause...I'd really like the London show )

Has anyone else picked this one up yet? I just got it today one my way home from work and gave the entire thing a watch while I was eating dinner. It's... odd, to say the least.

The big draw of the DVD is an Emergency concert with 8 songs that's played in a tiny club. It sounds amazing, especially the slow acoustic version of "True Patriot Love". The other "concert" on the DVD is actually snippets of Joel doing solo acoustic performances across the country. The DVD also has a every music video he's done, which suprised me since I didn't know he actually had any music videos. The "Maybe We Should Just Go Home" video is my favorite so far, it's completly different from what you'd expect the video to be like. The runner up is the "Extraordinary" video during the DVD credits. I'm not going to say anything about, just trust me that you have to watch it. Hell, you should pick up the DVD just for this video. I was laughing so hard I was actually in tears.

The package also comes with a CD with three new songs. All three are really good, especially the package title track. There's not a whole lot to say about it, it's a nice addition, but not long enough to go into any detail about. Oh well.

After reading an article on the web, it appears that going solo seems to be a big trend up here, at least in the writers opinion it is. Not sure where he was going with the article but Canadian artists have a history of going solo it seems lately I suppose. But is it a Canadian thing? Does it happen here more than anywhere else. I dont really care, but anyways..

Here's a few I can think of, off the top of my head..

Matthew Good Band- Matt Good
Blue Rodeo- Jim Cuddy did a solo album or two, Greg Keelor did one last year as well.
Moist- David Usher (Moist was bad enough, please stop)
I Mother Earth- Edwin (where the hell is this guy anyway?)
I Mother Earth- Bryan Byrne (please god get back with IME your solo music stinks, and if I dont hear One More Astronaut live again Ill die!)
The Tea Party- Jeff Martin, new solo album due soon.
The Tragically Hip- Gord Downie
Barenaked Ladies- Steven Page

Obviously some have stayed with their respective bands, and Im sure we could trace this back years and name a bunch of others. Im not saying its a bad thing or anything just seemed like an interesting topic. I dont like all of those artists solo work, but there is some real good talent up here and I think its great that these individuals continue to make music. For instance I was pissed when MGB busted but at least MG kept it going and the man has great talent for music and songwriting and his solo work is fantastic, so at least in a way MGB really didnt go away. Same with Thornley/Big Wreck and Im hoping Jeff Martin's new album will live up to the hype as I was a big Tea Party fan and I hear this new work really echoes the TP music of old. At least something good can come from a band breakup sometimes, it helps lessen the blow.
