I'm a huge fan of the franchise, and think this could be a really cool movie...



On Thursday Fangoria Magazine reported that Rob Zombie would be directing Halloween 9.

Saturday, Zombie responded to the rumors on his blog stating, "I don't know how this story all got started but I AM NOT MAKING HALLOWEEN 9."

Well something happened between Saturday and Sunday, because it was officially announced, Rob Zombie is indeed going to be directing Halloween for Dimension Films.

"Okay here's the real deal for those of you who are confused. As I said yesterday - I am not making Halloween 9. That series is done, complete, over," Zombie wrote on his official blog. "But what I am doing is starting totally from from scratch. This the new HALLOWEEN. Call it a remake, an update, a reimagining or whatever, but one thing that for sure is this is a whole new start... a new begining with no connection to the other series. That is exactly why the project appeals to me. I can take it and run with it. I talked to John Carpenter about this the other day and he said, 'Go for it, Rob. Make it your own'. And that's exactly what I intend to do."

Zombie told Variety that "This is a bit of a prequel and a remake, combined. Over 25 years and a lot of movies, a very scary character became something of a Halloween cliche, with Michael Myers dolls that play the Halloween music when you press their stomachs. By the end of the sequel cycle, there was little connection to the original. I take that film very seriously, and I want to make it terrifying again."

"Just This" - It's the Hip, pre-Hip with a Sax player. A friend passed it on - no idea where it came from - possibly somebody related to the sax player.

Hi everyone. As I’ve mentioned before, I’m about to dive into the job market, specifically teaching high school English (if I’m lucky!). For my final certification exams and subsequent portfolio review I need to expand on a previously created lesson plan to “make it more engaging for students with a wide variety of abilities and interests”. The unit I’ve selected in on memoir and creative non-fiction. I have the shorter, creative nf part down, but the memoirs are giving me a bit of a headache. Does anyone have any recommendations? These kids (should) be reading on at least a 10th grade level, so difficulty is much of a problem, but language is (profanity should be minimal or easy to omit). I was considering utilizing sections of A Million Little Pieces to highlight what not to do…but that may fall by the wayside. Either way, suggestions or feedback is appreciated!!

After alot of effort rebuilding my database of Hip bootlegs, I realized that I've upgraded all of the shows I downloaded seven years ago when I started collecting boots. Back then, TheHip.Org was very accessible so I built a decent collection quickly.

The MP3-sourced bootlegs I have aren't needed anymore, so I've decided to offer them up here to anyone interested.

Listed here are just over 100 shows burned on 15 CDR's. Buy as few or as many as you like - make me an offer and most likely I'll take it. Obviously taking most of the discs is preferrable but doesn't really matter to me. As long as they could add to someone's collection, I'm happy.

Unfortunately, I can't pick off shows from different discs and compile something you request. The discs are as-is and first-come-first serve.

I found these links from blabbermouth.net for a new song played live in Berlin. Although I loved St. Anger, this is a riff happy/double bass happy untitled song which brings you back to MOP and RTL days! Friggin' sweet. Metallica found metal again!

Okay, okay, this may sound ultra cheesy, but I'm practically crawling out of my skin. A few of you may have known (through my psychotic other post-I wont reference it 'cause I'm too embarassed) that my marriage fell apart last year. Since then I've been trying to meet other people through the usual locations. Bars, grocery stores, even online dating sites. No luck there. So I turned my attention to the place that has given me luck over all of my relationships...work. I've worked with this person for a few years and always thought she was cool. There will be a Hip reference so try to get past my giddy drivel.

A bunch of us go out for happy hour after work last Friday night. Potential Girlfriend's (PG for the rest of my story) best friend asks me if I would like to come out to another bar with her, her husband and PG. We all go (PG driving with me) and I have a great time even though there was a live country band that night. Oh well. Good times, good times. The night winds down and PG asks if I would like to come out tomorrow night (Saturday) to the same place to see ANOTHER live country band. I'll tell ya, the things we all do for love and affection! I happily say yes, we exchange cells and go about our merry way.

At this time I'm formulating a plan, cause I purposefully bought two tickets for the Lewiston show with the intention of bringing a date-hoping it would be PG. I wasn't worried about using the other ticket if my idea fell through because my roommate and my brother were going to fight over the other one if I struck out. Plan hatched, ask PG to go to the show. How? I have not done this in almost 10 years. I felt like I was in grade school. Does she like me/does he like me? What I puss I am.

Saturday night rolls around, I get the call from PG. "You coming out?" "Hell yeah" was my response, I haven't been this excited to be out of the house in a long time. At the bar listening to this country band, thinking how to ask her. Crowded bar, her friends are there (I'm the outsider remember), too loud to talk. So I'm listening to this band and they are pretty good, I don't like much country, but damn, they sounded good. They started mixing up the sets, playing more southern rock, Skynrd, ZZ Top, etc... I thought somethings up tonight. Last song of the night we're all on the floor dancing to "Kryptonite" (3 Doors Down - dont ask, I've had a few by now). Song ends and were all like "ONE MORE SONG! ONE MORE SONG!"

They f'ing start playing NOIS. Last song of the night. I went nuts. This must have been fate. Out of the millions and millions of songs, they play NOIS. After the song I went out for a smoke and to build up courage. Moments later, PG is standing next to me. So I said to her (this is so cheesy, but I was frozen - remember 10 years):

"Did you like that last song?"
"Yeah"
"Do you want to go see them with me?"
"Who are they?"
(for a moment I froze, ready to LMAO)
"The Tragically Hip"
"When is it?"
"The 17th"
"Yeah, it'll be a lot of fun"
"Cool"

Here's hoping to get another Hip convert!

Later I told her I had her in mind all along, and hoped she would go and I just needed the courage to ask. It's tough to see each other at work, so we pass the days firing off playful emails. Even went out to lunch today together and got the attention of the whole office. So if you are at the show on the 17th, look for the guy with the biggest grin on his face and wish him luck!
