I posted this in the Non Tragically Hip discussion but I thought it might be relevant here. I run two websites which might be of interest to some here. First there is a Rheostatics live music and video archive at http://www.rheostaticslive.com . Secondly there is a Bourbon Tabernacle Choir site (Chris and Kate's old band) at http://www.bourbontabernaclechoir.com . Both have all free downloads of shows and videos. Hey Guys

Being that the hip are playing covers at arena shows

I thought it would be nice to start a thread of what we would all love to see covered

I would love to see the hip play Tangle Up in Blues by Dylan

is everything ok as i dont see it on the homepage?maybe we blew up their system again.those 2 new shows did it overload

R.E.M. will be one of five artists inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame at a ceremony on March 12th in New York City at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. The band will be inducted along with Patti Smith, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, The Ronettes, and Van Halen. The five inductees were chosen by the 600 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation from a pool of nine nominees which also included Chic, the Dave Clark Five, The Stooges, and Joe Tex. Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Hall 25 years after the release of their first recording. R.E.M., eligible in its first year of nomination, released "Radio Free Europe" on Hib-Tone Records in July 1981.

"Our strength seems to be looking forward...(to) the next song or the next record or the next video and the next tour and trying to continue doing good and sometimes great work," Michael Stipe told Billboard.com from London, where he, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and manager Bertis Downs were meeting to talk about plans for R.E.M.'s next album. "So it's really an honor that someone took the time to look backward and to kind of recognize what we've done in our past, 'cause we're really crappy at it."

In addition to being honored at the ceremony on March 12, 2007, each artist who is inducted is commemorated within the I.M. Pei-designed museum in Cleveland, Ohio. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame displays the signature of each inductee inscribed in glass. In addition, there is an exhibit of artifacts from this year's inductees, and a multi-media film presentation with highlights from each artist's career. The exhibit on this year's inductees will open in March, 2007 and will run for one year.

State Theater April 12th downtown Detroit! Can't think of a better venue!!!

I'm wondering if anyone on the Ship can help me with acquiring some of the many pieces of art the Hip have created over the years. When I'm in Edmonton for the show, I'm going to get another tattoo, I guess I'm wondering if someone has a nicely sized pic of the World Arrow from the new cd I can save and print out instead of handing them the cd and saying work with that, because its so small, I'd like a bigger picture of it,maybe the size of a fist,if not bigger, I'm also interested in;

Some local morons took it upon themselves to smash up my car last night for no other reason than they were drunk! :x







To make matters worse, the starter motor packed up the other day, and I'm currently trying to sell it. It was supposed to be fixed last night, but luckily the guy couldn't make it - it's not worth doing now, as all the repairs will come to far more than I could hope to sell it for. I'm so p***ed off!! Why the hell do these idiots think they have the right to just go round smashing up other people's property?!

Sorry for the rant...

Anyone interested in making it happen? Some of you were graced with disc 8 but that only covered material up to M@W.

Kinda hoping to do a LGRTF 2.0 as I wasn't all that happy with a lot of the stuff on there. At the time it was cool to have different versions, but seven years later, there's room to be more picky about things. I have a few discs of wav files that I cut a lot of the originals from, but I'd have nothing past M@W for references as I haven't had the time to be so auditory...

Would kind of like to re-do the project from start to finish, both with demo/b-side/unreleased stuff, then go on to live snippets that developed in to real songs, then have live rants etc. Finally would like to separate GD's stuff from Hip stuff etc.

Anyone up for it? A collaborative effort? Think the only creative control I'd want on the second go 'round is that someone could design new covers for the new project, but I'd want my Hip photography to grace the covers...
