Ozzy Osbourne and wife/manager Sharon Osbourne held a press conference at the Concert Industry Consortium February 6 that was promised to be historic, and was.
Osbourne dispelled rumors that he was retiring and announced the first free festival tour in the history of the U.S.
"Ozzy's been touring for 30 odd years and he's done very well, and just wanted to give something back," Sharon said.
The tour starts in San Bernardino July 7 and will continue through 25 cities including San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Dallas, San Antonio, Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Hartford, Charlotte, Atlanta, West Plam Beach and Nashville. A final confirmed list of cities and dates is forthcoming.
How this will work logistically is unclear, but it will be a ticketed event and is a Live Nation tour.
"For the last few years,ticket prices have steadily climbed as artists demand more and more money for summer tours," Sharon said. "We certainly want everybody to make money, however we also want the kids to be able to afford to come out and have an incredible experience. If we continued with the traditional touring festival model, we would have no choice but to raise ticket prices again this year."
The bands will not be paid. This gives artists an opportunity to get exposure by playing in front of thousands of Ozzfest fans, Sharon said. The artists will have the opportunity to secure other gigs during the tour.
A lineup is expected within two weeks.

  laptop help for University

Well i suppose the time has come that i should start looking at laptops for university next year. Anyways im at a loss of what to do expecially since the beginning of all of this "Vista" bussiness. I was talking to some people last night who were telling me that Vista has software in it that without the users choice or notification searches and destroys any pirated software in the hard drive. That could be bad news for the likes of me. I was then told to check out imacs as apparantley they are user friendly and extremely versitile (compared to windows OS). Any comments or helpful pushes in the right direction would be appreciated.

  2007 "Meridian" jams/covers

So, I'm trying to keep track of all the cover tunes the boys are playing for the site, but I noticed that here in Ottawa on Friday night, the band started to play "Walking On The Moon" by The Police during ATHM.

Gord was laying on stage, giving himself a hot-towel facial, and when that was over, he got up and dismantled the mic stand so he could twirl it like a baton (with an amazing level of skill).

As Gord goofed around, the boys jammed and eventually moved into the Sting business.

Has this happened at any other shows? What songs did they cover during jams?

  Werewolf Tease in Oshawa

I've been listening to Chris's recording from the show in the 'Shwa last week and I am hearing a very faint tease of "I'm A Werewolf Baby" in the minute that proceeds "Walking on the Moon." Starting around 6:25, the jam begins to take a similar shape to "Werewolf" jams found on the ElMo bootleg and a couple of rarities comps.

Fan me if you must, but give it a listen.
