Saw this being passed around Facebook recently and thought it would be fun to post here. What are 10 albums that defined your adolescence? (say from age 12-19). The only rule is you can only choose one album per band/artist. Here are mine in no particular order. Trying to narrow this down to 10 was incredibly painful.
U2- The Joshua Tree
Guns N' Roses- Appetite for Destruction
The Tragically Hip- Road Apples
The Doors- The Doors
Pearl Jam- Ten
Nirvana- Nevermind
The Northern Pikes- Snow in June
R.E.M.- Document
Buffalo Tom- Let Me Come Over
Skydiggers- Restless
Cant make this show tomorrow night. Perfect small venue. If you are interested I have two tickets, paid $117 they are yours at no cost. You would have to pick them up in the Hamilton area or I can transfer through TM if you have an account.

I finally watched Spirit Unforgettable -- the documentary about John Mann of Spirit of the West, the band, and his battle with early onset Alzheimer's (he's in his early 50s) after purposefully avoiding it for a few months. 2016 was a bad enough year.
Heartbreaking and terrifying, and also some good insight into their career. When they were in their prime, which for me was when they added Vince of drums and went to a more rock sound (folk purists would yell Judas), they were an incredible band with a string of really solid albums. John and Geoff wrote incredible lyrics, and Mann was always an entertaining frontman. I saw them play small bars, and halls with orchestras as backing, and they never failed to deliver.
I always wondered why they sort of faded away, and the poor label support and focus on family versus constant roadwork explained it. It also highlighted how hard it is to make a living as a musician. I'd say they're one of the better know Canadian bands of the that era, and I don't have the impression they made a great living off of all the hard work.
A new year with new music !
Already, there`s a 2017 release that is kicking my ass.
Last year, I fell in love with the new Arkells album, and that perhaps rekindled my love for alt-pop-rock. In the same vein as Morning Report...

I am more and more impressed with each listen!
Jan. 17th, and I may have already found my album of the year
Finally getting around to some outstanding projects.

Welcome to the 6th volume of our very first edition of the Hipbase Bootleg Club!
Every two weeks a member of the Hipbase will post an audio recording to be featured in the Hipbase community. We will then all be required to rock the hell out of the selected audio day-in and day-out for a two week period (or ... also once).
Volume 06 runs from January 13th - January 26th. The Volume 06 selection has been made by Hipbaser kaisersozee!

Under MASTER-MP3 or MASTER-FLAC, select the 1995 folder, however, there is also a remixed version that kaisersozee sent me, that can be found right here:

Here is what Hipbaser kaisersozee had to say about this selection:
I chose this show because it was my favorite show I ever saw. I had just bought a Sony DAT recorder at the suggestion of my friend Paul Russell (owner of Looney Tunes in Burlington) and taped the Hamilton show the night before this, incredible show and energy. When I listened to the tape I became "hipnotized" by the lyrics during NOIS (I seen more blurry lights than starry nights...) that I had not heard before and listened to it over and over. Paul said lets go see the Toronto show and I jumped at the chance. It was even better, with Gordie having so much fun, the crowd was wild from the first note. The eruption for 50 Mission Cap shook the building!! When I heard Gord added more lyrics to the part I had noticed it blew my mind that they were creating a song live during the tour!! Since then I have seen their creative genius and heard their playing of songs "to come" dozens of times planting the songs subliminally into the fan's heads. Pure genius!! What a roller coaster ride this one was!!
The set list covered lots of Day4Night and included almost all my favorite songs to date.
Hope you all enjoy!! We are family!!
Try to sit still through this show......

Hi everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone has video of the Ron MacLean intro and closing from the CBC broadcast of the final concert. I'd love to see those pieces again (particularly the closing when CBC went back to Rio after the end credits). If anyone still has those bits on their pvr and has a way to capture and pass on I'd be super grateful.
Cheers,
~Dave
U2 is heading out on the road and playing The Joshua Tree in full this summer to celebrate the 30th anniversary of that album. Anyone planning to get (or at least try to get...) tickets to this? I'd rather they celebrated 25+ years of Achtung, Baby and played that album in full but it's hard to argue with the brilliance of The Joshua Tree. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday, January 17th.
