I understand how this won't be everyone's cup of tea, but if I make one person a convert, I guess that's my job.
I am convinced that they are one of the best live acts I have ever seen.
...And maybe one of these days The Hip will invite them on tour... but I won't hold my breath for that

They're album is called You Will Land With A Thud... and is phenomenal.
They're touring Canada this winter as well. They're live show is so much fun.

I'm in the market for a new digital camera, we've used the same 35 mm camera forever and now i want a digital, I'm wondering is the rechargeable or disposable battery powered better? i heard they can go thru disposables fast. how many megapixels minimum will give the best shots,what features should i look for. I know very little about them. I'm looking to not spend a whole lot maybe 150 max. thanx for any help you can offer.

I bought In Violet Light last week and found the card for "The Hip Club" which is no more. There were 3 downloads available for free (which I feel I am entitled to since I bought the CD new). Are these 3 songs available anywhere?

Please note: I am only interested in LEGAL downloads. (I found the other 2 songs at this website, but am doubt these are legal) http://www.hipmuseum.com/unreleased.html.

Do the hip have these on their website anywhere? Can they be found at itunes/zune marketplace/amazon/etc?

I don't know if this is the right place to post anything like this but if it's not, my apologies and feel free to delete.

Anyway, my girlfriend and I are looking to go to the Quebec City winter carnival this year, ideally leaving from Kingston, ON anytime Thursday January 29th or Friday January 30th and returning by Sunday February 1st. The problem is we're students and lacking the $160.00 each VIA is asking for return tickets. With the price of gas being what it is, the best way to get there for two people is by car... problem being that we don't own one or no anybody that would let us borrow theirs for the weekend.

I thought maybe somebody on these forums might know of a website that offers people a chance to offer and request rides for destinations in Canada. I tried googling but didn't find any sites that were heavily frequented. Any ideas? Or ride offers? Anything!?

Apparently I missed an opportunity to see Gord Downie perform with Dallas Green and City and Colour (notice I used the Canadian spelling...lol) last night. One of the local Windsor/Detroit, CHUM owned alternative radio stations, 93.9 The River (CIDR), held their 2nd annual Winter Ice Breaker concert at the Fillmore/Detroit. The concert had numerous artists and the headliner was City and Colour. The DJ on the radio today said the concert was great and Gord Downie made a guest star appearence.

I assume Gord sang "Sleeping Sickness" with the band. It is very popular in this area and 93.9 The River plays it often (along with many other Hip songs). I don't know if Gord sang any other songs last night. I had heard rumors that Gord might be at the show, but it had sold out by the time I had heard this. I also didn't consider the rumors very credible, but these multiple artist/festival type shows are typically the ones that Gord D. and the rest of The Hip like to play at.
