Which song do you think is better?

Match-up #16 - At The Hundredth Meridian Vs. The Dire Wolf
I ask you to listen to the two songs in the match-up Back to Back, and consider the lyrics of the song. Feel free to post an unbiased analysis of both songs in this thread, but please refrain from cheerleading or making predictions for your favourites.

As always, you can hear both songs played back to back streaming online at http://www.power97.com at 11PM CST, 12AM EST.

I've pitched a story on the relevance of The Tragically Hip in 2009 on the heels of WATS to a number of newspaper; I've had a few bites but I need your help as possible interview sources. If anyone interested on here could take a shot at these questions, I'd really appreciate it. Need to hammer this thing out in a day or two-

-How relevant are The Hip in 2009, considering Canadian music has become a haven for young, groundbreaking indie artists?

-What have The Hip done to stay accessible or even generate new fans?

-What is the key to The Hip's loyal fanbase?

-What sort of (Realistic) expectations do you have for the future of The Hip?

Thanks guys. Serious responses only, please.

Got a couple dusty Hip related gems that I'd like to share. What's the best way to get them out there? My internet provider won't allow me to seed torrents...

Plan on doing this tonight. Have some 2001 stuff to set free: Umbrella TV Gord Downie interview and webcast audio from Manta Sound Studios , a Downie poetry reading on CBC, three or four chapters.ca exclusive tracks from a CMG session, and another unknown Downie in studio that I'm still trying to sort out...

here's a review of Manta Studios:

Hi Lance,

I don't know if this is the same for everyone, but the index page for Guests/those not logged in looks like this. It doesn't feature The Tragically Hip discussion forum, which I thought was a bit odd for a Hip forum. Wink Also, the 2009 show reviews doesn't show which I thought would be something which would be good for Guests. Also, you can see the Tapers Talk forum which I thought was meant to be private.

I dunno if all these are meant to be like that, and if so, please ignore me, but I just thought I'd bring it to your attention.

Cheers! Keep up the good work! :thumb:

Oh, and I know I'm using IE here, and I can only apologise. It's all we can access at work, sadly.

Hey Folks,

I was wondering if anyone had a video of the I and I from 2000 that they could post on YouTube for us?

Do you guys remember how awesome this was? Gord brought someone on stage to sing Cordelia with Him (a ongoing life goal of mine is to jam with the hip), a sick version of M@work, and a killer Grace, too, with people pooring out onto the streets to see them.

I miss the days when much music was awesome. Here's hoping for a Much More Music I and I someday again.
