My media request to review the gig for a big website fell through. Anyone got a spare ticket? I realize it's late, but I don't care where the ticket is. If it makes any difference, it'll result in a review for The Hip to the american market.

A virus just attacked your computer and changed the song titles for many of your favourite Hip tunes. The virus changes the song title to a man or woman's name based on the song lyrics.

Without opening the file to listen to the song, how many songs would you be able to change back to their correct name.

Hi folks! Having been a member of this fine internet community for nearly 7 years (!), I've come to value (most) of the advice I've received from its members. That being said, I again turn to you all for help. After a period of *mumble3yearsmumble* relative inactivity, I'm looking to get back into the groove of working out on a regular basis. In the past, I never had a problem staying active. In high school, I played field hockey, ran track and captained the swim team. In college, I hauled my ass to the gym 4 or 5 times a week and coached swimming in the summer. However, the real world, is devoid of free gym memberships and varsity athletics, and I'm finding it difficult to motivate myself. What do you all do to remain active? Any and all suggestions are welcome, as I need something other than an impending beach vacation to get myself in gear. Thanks for reading!

As I type this, please let it be known that I'm not actually sure if I want this to happen. But...

With the acoustic sets each night being a big highlight for many people, it got me to thinking: Could they pull off acoustic shows?

If they were to ever try it, I think there would need to be some guidelines to follow:

1) Make it a SHORT tour....I'm talking like 10-15 of the Hip's top cities, one night in each place, theatres that hold under a thousand people. I could see it now... casual fans getting tickets and not realizing the show is acoustic and seated, and being pissed the whole time. Id say Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland, Chicago, etc stateside, take your pick on the Canadian side, but the choices are rather obvious.

2) Expand the song set. Part of seeing the Hip live for many of us is that we don't always know what we will hear on a given night. They have shown the ability to rework some heavy songs (Courage, MM@W), but they would have to take it even further.

3) Do this tour "between legs" of the full scale shows. I'd also suggest a winter tour, when things are rather mundane anyway.

4) Have an opener, and keep the shows in the 18 songish range. This will keep the shows from being the same, especially if they can manage around 25 songs to play with.

5) Dig Deep.... consider the people that would come to this show. In fact, make the tickets exclusive like the Danforth shows. This will help ensure the kind of audience that would be just as happy to hear A Beautiful Thing (which I'm still hoping pops up in a set) as they would to hear Bobcaygeon.

6) Last but not least....consider playing without a set list. (Heaven forbid, the psychos that maul over people 5 times smaller than they are to get a list from Billy Ray would have to find a different souvenier.) If someone yells out a song and you think you can play it, go for it! Every night would seem special, and the band could really interact with the audience.

I made this thread not thinking I would ever want this to happen. Now that I've finished....I think I'd love it!

I would like to compile a live disc of Hip songs played before they were released on CD.
these songs must have Alternate structures or lyrics and must be played in a live show.

So with that said I will start the list with a few songs from shows I taped in the past plus a few gems, Id imagine once we have compiled a list of the songs we can upload to the tracker

The show in Victoria was amazing! I recorded the entire show, but i haven't listened back yet, so I can't provide the entire set list. I wish i could make contact with the Hip. I enjoy their music so much, and i feel bad they have to stay on a tour bus or a hotel when in town. They're the kind of band that need friends wherever they go, places to stay with friendly Canadians, wherever they might be.

So that being said, I'd like to invite The Hip up to Brentwood Bay tomorrow, Saturday, for a chill out day on my boat and head down to McKenzie Bight, a great spot to hang out, have a couple beers, and just relax on the beach. I'm going to the Sat. night show too because it is my hope that one day i will hear them perform "Are We Family" live, my absolute favorite Hip tune. Who knows, they just might play it.
