I missed watching the 2012 Juno awards and am finally getting around to checking out the performances.

I was AMAZED by Feist.
I thought I couldn't love her more than I already do...

A few years ago I posted on the tragically hip section a comment on Gord Downie's writing and how he uses "trouble on the water" as a theme or metaphor. People had fun posting all the songs that were relevant, from obvious choices like nautical disaster to membership, even his rants concerning killer whales. Now, everyone's posts, including mine, were very positive and enthusiastic. However, when I listen to the drowning machine, it seems like he is responding to some critic who used this idea to at best de-mystify and at worst slam his process. Any ideas? Btw, there is water imagery on his latest but I notice the sun appears on most (maybe all, I haven't checked) of the songs. Is he defending his muse?

Its a bit old but hey, not sure if everybody here has had a chance to listen to it.
They have a player on the site you can just click on it, top right hand side and it streams pretty good.

I never thought to ask this here but is it possible that someone had taped the Daniel Lanois set either from 93 , 94 or 95 roadside attraction shows, I was at all of them and remember him at 2 of them for sure, and I was hypnotized by his performance and have purchased all his studio stuff since, just today listening to For The Beauty Of Wynona, It came to me that its possible that someone on here has a copy of one of his sets from markham fair grounds 93 ,94 or barrie 95 . Got my fingers crossed.

Just a heads up for you old timers in the Toronto area. Classic Albums Live will be performing Queen's A Night At the Opera at Massey Hall on Saturday April 14. There will be a 15-piece band (including 5 guitars) and 35-piece choir. Numerous other classic Queen songs will be performed in addition to ANATO, which will performed in its entirety.

...just moved into a tie with Heartless Bastards for my favorite album of 2012 so far. I need a few more spins before I make the final verdict, but this might be the best thing Joel has ever done. "Lightning Bolt" is f'n' killer, and that's just the first track! The entire album is amazing.
