Hey All! We're bringing the show to Toronto. That's right, after 10 years, we've finally been invited to Canada in the dead of winter and we couldn't be more excited! So be cool, my babies, and listen up!

Some of the Canadian and non-Canadian celebrities lined up for this unprecedented road show include comedy superstars Mike Myers and Adam Sandler, Stompin' Tom Connors, Michael J. Fox, "Will & Grace" star Eric McCormack as well as musical guests Nickelback and Barenaked Ladies and Canadian comedian Ron James. More guests will be announced at a later date.

k...i give up..how in God's name do you download a show from there? Excuse my ignorance but there seems to be no way to simply download a show on there. Help.

Ahoy, I read this write up on the AC/DC fan forum(hope I don't get sued cratch: ) and thought it was kinda cool,so I thought I'd pass it along to all you beautiful,good looking cool cat Hipsters, maybe you can correlate where TTH fitz into the Cog Theory.....enjoy.....oh ya and Good Morning..... :mrgreen:


Some of you may have seen this before, some may have not but it makes sense... An Intro to Cog Theory Cog theory is an attempt to pull back the curtain of the popular music business(as applied to

popularity in North America) and examine the mechanics of success.
There is a machine in which all musical artists are put thru, from now on referred to as "THE MACHINE". Now, artists' success in navigating their way thru the intricate cogs, gears, hammers, and grinders of The Machine determines the arc, scope, and course of their career. Such navigation requires talent, timing, luck and a strong personal constitution. AC/DC and COG THEORY

A)Stage 1: THE PLATFORM and CONVEYOR BELT At the bottom of The Machine, there is a platform. And on that platform there is a long line of artists, who wait there turn to climb a ladder which leads to a conveyor belt. As the artists travel along that conveyor belt they make and release a record. At the end of the conveyor belt is the first of several interconnected cogs, each higher and larger than the previous cog. If the artists time their jump at the end of the conveyor belt just right, they can land on the first cog. But most artists miss the cog and land on the platform again (at the rear of the line) or, in some cases into the abyss below. "High Voltage" did NOT make the first cog.

B)Stage 2: THE FIRST COG Once artists reach the first cog and experience a degree of success, they become caught in the machinery. The gear is moving, the cog is rolling, and there's nothing that can be done to stop The Machine. Soon, a second, larger cog looms ahead, the grinding of its bottom teeth adjoining and turning the first cog. Artists must jump exactly at the right time to catch the second cog, otherwise they will be crushed in the machinery between the cogs and be either dropped back to the platform or rolled around to begin anew on the first cog. "Let There Be Rock" made it to the first cog, which pushed the band onto the second cog.

C)Stage 3: THE SECOND COG Once artists move as high as the second cog, it is a long way down to the bottom. They realize that the machinery is stronger than flesh, and that they are caught in it and there is no way off. The Machine tears skin, grinds limbs, and slowly infects and posses the brain. If the act is a band, The Machine can easily rip the members apart from each other and crush them individually. On the second cog, a band experiences true popularity. But to reach the next cog-the big cog, the final cog, the cog reserved for true phenomena-it is not just a matter of timing a long arduous leap. Getting onto the big cog is something that is out of a band's control. That power is in the hands of the mighty cog god, a whimsical, wrathful and unpredictable deity at the top of The Machine, turning the gears. AC/DC rolled around and around on the second cog, with "Powerage" (backed by their first U.S. tour) and "Highway To Hell" (the blooming of the late great Bon Scott on American soil) prior to the passing of Bon Scott. Following the passing of Bon Scott, "Highway" as well "Back In Black", the next offering, caught the big cog.

D) Stage 4: THE BIG COG The big cog is the cog that Guns N' Roses got caught on with "Appetite For Destuction", that Metallica got caught on with their "black album". It is the cog that artists such as Nirvana, Mariah Carey, the Backstreet Boys and Eminem have all reached. The big cog is a huge grinding gear, and there's nothing artists can do about it if it picks them up.They can stand up and scream, "I hate everyone in the world and you all suck, and if you buy a single record of mine I'll kill you!!!". And all that will happen is more people will run out and buy their records. Trying to get off the cog is futile:

It only makes the process hurt more. The big cog is exciting but overwhelming. Where the second cog can dig under the skin of artists, this one can tear them apart limb by limb. The cog gives artists everything they have ever dreamed of, everything they could ever want except for privacy, solitude, friendship, stability, love (both familial and romantic), and peace of mind. With "Back In Black" and "For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)" both on the big cog (the latter debuting at number 4 on US Billboard charts), AC/DC could do no wrong.

You Shook Me All Night Long, Back In Black, as well a number of other songs such as Highway To Hell (popularized from the recent death of Bon Scott) terrorized rock radio, every show sold out, as well recognition came from American media. When the band first caught the big cog, it rolled along with the cog. But people get tired; The Machine never stops moving. When the band could no longer keep pace, the big cog tore them apart, destroyed their lives (death of Bon Scott), destroyed their relationships (with Phil in 83, with the media following accusations of being distasteful or disrespectful for carrying on after the passing of their previous singer, with the media following accusations of devil worship thanks in no part to the PMRC, etc.) and wrecked any chance of them leading a normal life (constant touring, not as much privacy), having any friends, or knowing what to do with themselves when not playing The Machine game of recording and touring (playing) by its rules.

So as the band grew tired of running around on the big cog, the cruel and impersonal machine kept them on top. Afterward, the businesspeople whose job it is to stand on the outside of The Machine, monitor its behavior, and see who is on what cog so that they can invest their money in them (kinda like the stock market) decided after sales started to stiff for "For Those About To Rock" and "Flick" that it was time for THE CRUSHER...it was time for investment in other interests.

E) Stage 5: THE CRUSHER At the end of the big cog is a long, heavy rod with the circumference of a large tree trunk that shoots down from above at random intervals, crushing acts at the edge of the big cog or on their way off the big cog. Some acts have a lot of stamina, and can run in place on the big cog and avoid the crusher for years. But most get worn down by the big cog. They are knocked off by the crusher and either dropped to a lower cog, to the platform below where they wait to return the conveyor belt, or into the abyss below. Some-like Kurt Cobain, Jimi Hendrix, and Janis Joplin- get smashed completely by the crusher. And in one sense, they win. The only way to beat The Machine is to die, because thats the only way out of the game. When you win and make it to the big cog, you ultimately lose. There is no other way to go but down, and it's a painful drop no matter what. Most who survive are not the same after the fall. They experience post-cog stress disorder in which, like Axl Rose, they fool themselves into thinking that they are still on the big cog.

With AC/DC THE CRUSHER coincided to an extent with them on the big cog...the death of Bon Scott instead of damaging them artistically and financially it only hurled them onto the big cog and helped them stay awhile on it...but just like everybody before them tension mounted and their big cog stay was finally unwelcome and THE CRUSHER pushed them down a bit. But because of the bands patient and solid personal constitution they continued on after dusting off their old blue jeans and got right back on one of the smaller cogs and eventually hit another larger cog in 1990. Conclusion: A NEW BEGINNING There is no way to get off the machine without dying. Like sex, you want it over and over again, even when your organs don't work anymore. Success, or the desire for success, is a hard habit to kick. On The Machine, an act can get second, third, or eighteenth chances. There is nothing keeping a band from reaching the first, second or final big cog again. The Stones have been dancing between gogs for years as well our boys. Madonna has caught the big cog at least three times. And Santana spent a few years on the second cog around 1969, then rolled on the conveyor belt for decades before his "Supernatural" album suddenly caught each cog until it dragged him to the top. Message to be read into this?...

AC/DC have been rolling around on the second cog ever since falling from a big cog in the early 1990's and with the acclaimed "Stiff Upper Lip" and their new deal with SONY as well their 30th Anniversary the time is just about right for AC/DC to reach the big one yet again...this time just as big as the"Back In BLack" era... "I promise you this...One day you'll walk into the tattoo shop of life and say "I'm back I'm ready for my new tattoo and her name is rock n roll...Now its time to make it permanent"...you will have been thru all the temporary 15 minutes of flash and you will have come to realize that you've been being served fast food music and disposable heroes for too long...you've somehow forgotten what is real and what is not...and you know what the man behind the counter will say? WE KNEW YOU'D BE BACK!!!!

I don't know how many of you are fans. Personally I was introduced to them not long ago and have been hooked almost as bad as the Hip. I'm so there (where ever there is).

Has anybody else here heard from Peter Padjen, aka livehip, lately? I purchased a number of Hip shows from him in early December when he was liquidating his collection, and have received less than half of what I asked and paid for. Thanks much.
