Does anybody have a copy of "At the Quinte Hotel". the short film that Gordie did based on the poem by Al Purdy. I uploaded a long time ago to one of the ftp sites but haven't had much luck connecting to any of them and I can't find my copy to save my life. I'm hoping to use it with my classes tomorrow, so if you have it, please let me know!

Thanks!

There I was, 9:30 PM, Thursday night. It was a dark and cold night (obviously cold I live in Canada), anyway, I'm racing down the road to get home and I was about 250 feet from my appartment's driveway when the super laim local radio station did something completely unheard of; they playThe Tragically Hip! And to top it off it was my favorite hip song!! Fireworks! Which to me seemed even odder since the only times I hear hip on the radio here is when its one of their more popular songs. I think I've found a new favorite radio station!

So many radio stations have spotlights and features like the 80's flashback and crap like that.. I think we need to start a movement to start a TTH Hour! In the same fashion that Canadian radio stations must play a set percentage of Canadian content, it should be mandatory to carry the TTH hour! I think I'll join politics and have that bill passed Confusedhock:

hey all,

www.thehip.com has been updated. It now has an autographed Rob Baker guitar up for charity auction, and it took down Johnny Fay's autographed drum kit. There! Everyone stop whining that the site is never updated......Ha ha. (Boy I hope the band doesn't read this)

Looks like Matt Groening and company are finally going to do a full-length feature...

from today's Toronto Star:

Quote:Simpsons get ready for big screen

In the season-four Simpsons episode "Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie," commercials for the eponymous film flash with a disclaimer of "fifty-six per cent new footage." Will the Simpsons full-length film take the same animation shortcuts?

Short answer: no.

But that's only one piece of this deep-dish good news pie. The biggest slice is that the long-awaited, long-rumoured Simpsons film has finally been confirmed by Chris Meledandri, President of Twentieth Century Fox Animation. In comments published in Wednesday's Daily Variety, Melendandri said Fox's feature-film animation division is "in the very early stages of developing an idea for the movie."

With an ambitious projected release date of mid-to-late 2006, the Simpsons film will be traditionally animated, with all the main voice actors under contract for not only this movie, but also a possible sequel. At least seven of the show's past and present writers, including creator Matt Groening and executive producers James L. Brooks and Al Jean, are currently working on the feature script.

Mike Reiss, a Simpsons producer and writer, said in a Feb. 10 interview with DVDfanatic.com, "We never had the greatest idea (for a Simpsons film) that was compelling but Fox said, `Maybe if we start paying you, you'll get inspired.' And sure enough it worked! We've got a very good and interesting idea and it's different from the show."

Fans need not worry their baby is being torn apart, as Reiss added, "You know, it's like the South Park movie where it's just a bigger, longer, amplified version of the show."

The half-hour primetime animated sitcom is in its 15th year. It is the cornerstone to Fox's scripted programming, and has been renewed for 2004-05.

For those who can't wait for their big-screen adaptation of a half-hour animation show, Paramount is releasing Nickelodeon's The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie on Nov. 19.

Wonder if this was due to the stress of publicity or new marketing tactics? Me thinks Mattel wanted to reflect society and be hip Tongue

Having seen a Tragically Hip post here lately, I felt it was important to seed some other shows. Of the 40 or shows that I have, this falls in the top few.

Sound: 9.2/10
Performance: 9.6/10

Please note that these are subjective ratings, and may not truly reflect your expert ears or opinions.

This show gives a sampling of some of the storytelling and such by the band's front man. Gord Downie has a reputation for adding all sorts of amusing tidbits during his performances. This show is no different, as it opens with him saying "Volleyball for this evening has been cancelled". Amusing, indeed!

In addtion, tracks #2, #4, and #7 were rarely played on this tour--adding to a perceived rarity of this performance in its entirety.

Depending upon the progress of this seed, I will seed another show--likely one containing the semi-famous version of "Highway Girl" which details a light-hearted tale of a double suicide.
