This program was on today and I think it is safe to say that the people at much more music are smoking crack.

20.) Sloan--- I like them.
19.) Maestro Fresh Wes-----Was cool back in 6th grade.
18.) Diane Krall- I really like her voice.
17.) Platinum Blondes--- Not a big fan of hair bands.
16.) Our Lady Peace--- meah.
15.) Allanah Miles--- WHAT??? Come on now that is offside.
14.) Blue Rodeo--- Great Canadian Band.
13.) Neil Young--- Hmmm shouldn't one of Canada's living icons be a little higher on the list???
12.) Cory Hart--- Ummm ahead of Blue Rodeo and Neil Young??
11.) KD Lang--- Okay I am sensing a pattern of sucking going on this list.
10.) Nelly Furtado--- Alright she is not to bad. Heck some of her music is just down right catchy.
9.) Nickleback--- NO THAT IS IT, COME ON!!!!! I would prefer platinum blondes.
8.) The Tragically Hip--- Okay they are better than nickleback that is good. But they should be top 5 at least.
7.) Barenaked Ladies--- Good music but not better than the hip.
6.) AVRIL "FREAKING" LAVIGNE--- This one was the gag of the whole list. Better than Neil and TTH and BNL and Blue Rodeo??? Is much more music taking bribes from her agents??
5.)Sarah Maclachlan--- MMMMMM Sarah you are so hot and you can sing.
4.) Allanis Morrisette--- Ok maybe number 12 or 13 but not #4.
3.) Brian Adams--- Has done alot for the Canadian music industry..... um yeah.
2.)Shania Twain--- Get the F*&$ outta here with that bull@!$%. The anger sharks are swimming in my brain.
1.) Celine Dion--- Kudos on selling like a bajillion records but I will stick with the hip.

Not even mentioned: Rush, Headstones, The Guess Who, Great Big Sea, and list goes on and on.

Got a ticket to see the Sam Roberts/Trews show tonight and then Live tomorrow night. The Trews were fantastically rocking like always and then Sam comes on stage. He plays a few songs and then the rain comes down hard and the lightning starts! Why couldn't the lightning hold off for another hour or so?

Sam and the band rocked pretty good from what I heard but I'd have to say the Trews rocked harder. Their singer has an amazing, powerful live voice.

  heatley faces indictment

saw on the news today that dany heatley faces a maximum of 15 years in prison if convicted of vehicular homicide. anyone think he should do time? my opinion is he should maybe receive a monetary fine...like 5-10 million(or more)...alot of good could be done for a lot of causes with such a large sum of money. he wasnt doing anything i,and i am sure many others, would be doing in his position of wealth. i couldnt even begin to imagine carrying that burden for the rest of my life. from all accounts, this guy has a good head on his shoulders so it makes it especially sad. i really think he is going to be a superstar above superstars(ala lemieux,gretz and the like)....if he has the oppurtunity

Death of Hollywood legend

Legendary actor Marlon Brando has died at the age of 80.

The acclaimed Hollywood star, who won Oscars for his roles in The Godfather and On the Waterfront, passed away in a Los Angeles hospital, his lawyer said.

Brando, an overweight recluse, was known to be in poor health and earlier this year was seen being pushed in a wheelchair and breathing with the help of an oxygen mask.

He was struck down with pneumonia in 2002.

Film director Michael Winner paid tribute to the star, describing him as the most "marvellous", "witty" and "loyal" friend he had ever had.

Regarded by many as the greatest actor of his generation, Brando was the original angry young man of cinema.

His electrifying performances in A Streetcar Named Desire and On The Waterfront were unlike anything Hollywood had seen before.

Two decades on his Oscar-winning role in The Godfather sealed his status as a screen legend.

But Brando's life was marred by tragedy, and his later years were a tale of sad decline.

Days before his death it emerged that he was existing on social security and a pension from the Screen Actors Guild, with debts of £11 million.

I decide to head down to Hog Town with no ticket in hand, try my luck out because I cannot stand not going to this show, because I do not miss the HIP if they are in the Toronto area. Seeing them 40+ times, with approx. 10 shows being theatre style, and catching them @ club 279 last year I had no other choice.

Arriving just before 8:00 the line up was full, but didn't look crazy. No extra tickets in sight I went and sucked down a pint of Carlsberg at some Italian Bakery close by. I spoke with security so he could keep his ears open for an extra seat, but no dice on this night.

After sitting on a set of stairs in a shop entrance, I decide to head down to the entrance ramp for ticket holders at approximately 9:30. I spoke with 2 girls that were also trying to get in; they were on one of the owner’s guest lists. House of Blues stepped in and cancelled all guest lists last evening which caused a lot of problems for the management of the bar, they got in anyways.

I am gonna cut this short because I do not want to bore you, I was with another fan right by the entrance, listening to the first 3 songs, and out comes a guy, and says "you guys comin in?" to which I responded "we want to", he said "well come on in then". He lifted the barrier and we were in. Had a grand time inside, they sounded great.

Anyways, I wanted to throw out a big thank you to D.L. for being a really cool guy, and doing exactly what I would do if I was wearing his shoes in that scenario! You're a good man, and I really appreciate what you did. I hope to see you again and buy you a couple of pints!

Ampitheatre rocked, got some nice snapshots from front row right. I had to offer a public thank you because that gesture deserved nothing less!

Hey everyone,

I'm knew to this board but far from new to the band. I used to be agressively into the hip to the extent that I built up a collection of about 50 bootleg tapes. If anyone from the old IRC EFNet chatroom #thehip's around - drop me a line. When Music at Work hit, my interest started to fade. IVL was wonderful, but wow I'm loving this new disc. I just got back from the Amphitheatre and my 9th hip show (with my 10th coming up on the 10th at Bluesfest in Ottawa). Holy sh@t do those tunes translate well live.

I guess I just wanted to say 'hi' but my big question is, now that the days of tapes or slipping, how do I get back into bootleg collecting with this new-fangled MP3 technology? Can anyone help?
