The new single is great, alot different then anything they have done before.

I also heard some other Tea Party news. They are backing Scott Stapp on his solo tour. Not a bad gig for them I hate Creed with a pation, but happy for The Tea Party.

The quest for the cup pt. 2 begins August 30th, and if i'm super lucky i'll be in the house at the ACC to witness Canada capture it's first World Cup on my 19TH BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Is anybody here going to any of the games? Can anybody fill me in on how to get tix for the finals?

I heard on the edge 102 out of Toronto this morning that the next single is going to be...

It Can't be Nashville Every Night.

Can anyone confirm or deny this? Reason being, it wouldn't be my next choice for a single - but that's probably because I'm very partial to Goodnight Josephine!

Either way, I would love to hear people's thoughts on what their choices would be!

So, I was thinking about how cool it was when Keelor from Blue Rodeo got up and played Are You Ready For The Country with the Sadies on Saturday nite. So, I figured I'd listen to some Blue Rodeo today and really try to get to know their music. The first song I put on was Hasn't Hit Me Yet. I have to say that this is one of the most emotional songs I've listened to in a long time.
I honestly got chills and goosebumps. It has been a long time since a song has done that for me.

I really just wanted to say what a great song it is...i'm sure you all know that, but go out and listen to it. It's truly amazing.

I'm a huuuuge Dolphins fan... and never, not on my birthday, not during Christmas, not when there has been a death in the family, have I ever received as many phone calls as I did last night. I am completely shocked about the "retirement" of Ricky Williams. I still think he'll come out of retirement, probably not this season, but at some point. I mean Jordan did the same thing at a young age and came back. Ditka said he's going to try to talk Ricky out of his decision, because he says it's an awful lot of talent gone to waste.

What a strange offseason for the Dolphins. They got a great rookie lineman in Carrey and Boston still has so much potential, but they lost Norv Turner, their front office is all new and now Ricky's gone. (not to mention McMichael's still trying to keep his ass out of jail for beating his wife)

*sigh* and I just read the Sudbury back-stage posts that say the Hip aren't touring in Canada until November. SOMEBODY POST SOMETHING GOOD TO CHEER ME UP!!! hock:

I've noticed that at the three shows I've been to, and during the Mod club gig, Gord is not the murderous monster he used to be.

Oh, he still brings out the gun, and he even aimed and cocked it at a few people in Ottawa, but he always thinks twice, and then apologetically slips it into the back of his jeans with an "I'm so sorry, what was I thinking?!" smirk on his face...

I don't think he's shot a single person this tour!

It might have something to do with the current world scene, but dammit, I miss the PP tour when he'd go on nightly shooting spree's... and even break out the shotgun once and a while!

What's a fanlisting? A fanlisting is a place for all fans of a particular show, movie, actor, actress, singer, etc. to come together and build the biggest listing of people from all around the world who are fans of that subject.

Well, the thread title says it all pretty much - I just heard Nashville on Chom 97.7fm here in Montreal (mind you it was 2am...) hopefully they'll give it some more airplay during the daytime. Chom are so Hip friendly, I love it!

Ok folks, I think we have a winner in the "how much do you hate The Tragically Hip" contest. I was browsing some music forums today and I came across this rather malicious review of IBE. The guy even goes so far as to call the band "dishonest". Ouch.


"Lousy, atrocious effort from a once great band.
The only reason I was not horribly disappointed was due to my knowing not to get my hopes up in the first place. This new effort from The Hip is simply bland and uninteresting. A minor-league effort at best. The band is fortunate to have a solid fan base in Canada because there is no way that "In Between Evolution" could possibly attract new fans. The music is conservative, dull, un-inspired and strikes the listener as being dishonest in the sense the band seemed to be antagonistically going through the motions against their will. Lyrically, this is by far Downie's weakest effort as nothing on the album makes for either good song-writing or good poetry. Where once Gord stood on the thin line between brilliance and obscurity, it is all too clear that he has fallen off on the wrong side. Each track is as forgettable as the rest and none of them would merit a spot on any of their previous albums, excluding the dismal "In Violet Light" (the poor quality of which I once dismissed as a fluke, but recognize now as a sad new reality for the lads).

Given the abilities of this band, this album is terrible. The Tragically Hip really ought to consider retirement from recording. If this is what The Hip have "evolved" into, they may wish to consider alternative careers."
