Hey all
i'm a newbie here just looking around the site and it looks awesome!!!! I was wondering if anybody here could give me a place to go (site) or information, in some other form, about the hip for a speech a want to do on them.
note my speech must be done in french but n.p i'm bilingual.

In response to Dustin Hoffman's recent assertion that Hollywood is creatively bankrupt, Columbia Tri-Star's Sandler Studios (Famous for their 90 munite crap-a-thons featuring Canteen Boy himself) in association with the Straight To Cable Corporation (A division of NewsCorp.) figured the best way to cure their current script slump was to place an ad in "Variety" offering $130 million dollars to the first person who could answer the ad.

Luckily, my mailmain is an insomniac, my neighbours subscription to "Variety" came early, and I was able to steal said copy, write in, and win.

My idea centred around the Hip going someplace and saving something (They weren't really interested in details as long as something 'sploded at the end) with plenty of cleavage and white people saying hip-hop terms, ya know, for the kiddies.

So anyway, I need you to help me cast this Wellsian cinematic ode to terrificness.

Please feel free to make your own substitutions, or suggest new and exciting plot devices.

Here's the cast list as of now:

Gord Downie to be played by Jason Statham:



Bobby Baker to be played by Jesus Christ. Apparently, this is a "Travolta style come back" which the studio keeps telling me is important: (And boy, you should see this guy's contract rider... private trailer? Who does he think he is? But not to worry, as you can see below from his promo shot, everything's gunna be "Okay." Apparently he's got a powerful agent.)



Paul Langlois to be played by Slash, Paul's danglin' smoke to be played by Slash's smoke (Who is curently in Venice rehearsing his "danglin" with Italy's finest acting coach):



Gord Sinclair to be played by Adam Sandler: (He's the property of the studio, so he works for peanuts... and the occaisional cashew)



Johnny Fay, for obvious reasons, to be played by Ron Jeremy. (Who else could capture his... uh, essence.)



Billy Ray to be played by The Malborough Man or some reasonable fascimle... this guy will do:



The microphone stand to be played by Calista Flockhart:

Firstly, I want to say big thanks for everyone and anyone who has torrented a DVD. you're helping those out who have virtually no Hip bootlegs (like me) build a collection.

Being a bit new to the torrent world, I've been using ABC as my client, and have noticed that sometimes a file gets set to pause and doesn't seem to get unpaused.

What i think causes it is this...... Most of the DVD torrents I've seen have the path set as TS_VIDEO, and it's created off the root of whatever you have your download directory to. This causes problems, as if you're downloading 2 DVDS that are set the same way, one goes on pause becuase the /TS_VIDEO directory is being used.

The Boston DVD I downloaded has this TS_VIDEO directory contained *within* it's /HipBostonetc. directory that gets created, thus no conflict.


Now, having never created a torrent before, I don't know how easy they are to set up, but I just wanted to pass my findings along.......

If I have anything I find to torrent, I will certainly do it, to do my part. But the best I can do so far is leave the shows up for seeding, which I do whenever I can.

Well, I live in Thorold which is a small town next to Niagara Falls, ON. We have a Blues Fest every year at the local tiny amphitheatre in the park. It's pretty good, but nothing huge. This year is different. Headlining are The Caverners, the Beatles' tribute band and they are fantastic!! They played at Brock during O-Week this year. Next on the bill is Practically Hip!! This excites me greatly. I do not recall the date though I know it is in June. The date is available on Practically Hip's website though. Maybe I'll see some of you there!!

Hey folks...

I turn my computer on this morning, and all of a sudden, it is not reading my DVD-RAM device. When I troubleshoot it, it says it can detect the driver, but not hte device itself. I opened the tower up, and everything is still plugged in where it should be. Any thoughts/advice on how to get it working again??
