Last year I was a big fan of Matt Mays' "City of Lakes", so I bought the album and I was very disspointed. But now he has got his new album out and it features "Cocaine Cowgirl" which is an incredible track. Anyone else digging this tune, or bought the new album?
Unfortunately he isnt touring around my area any time soon. 
And I missed seeing his act in London last summer.
Anyway, its a great tune, definitely check it out. It's on Itunes...
not kravitz, but lenny bruce!! was watching the brilliant movie with dustin hoffman the other night about bruce's life (and what a life it was..great viewing...)anyways...there was a line in the movie that reminded of the old tales from the hip shirt...lenny storms out of the room after an argument with his girl, she runs after him yelling..."WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO BE SO FUCKING HIP!!!"..loved it
My wife and I took possession of our first house a few weeks ago. That weekend, my in-laws came down to help us move and paint. While painting one of the rooms, my mother-in-law asked how we should tackle it, and I replied (with much delight), "I'll do the rolling, you do the details". She, of course, was fully completely oblivious to the Hip reference, but I enjoyed it.
This has probably been done before, but it hasn't been, to my recollection, since I started visiting this site last summer. SOOOO:
The game is this. You're a concert promoter. Your goal is to RESURRECT ROADSIDE ATTRACTION and design your own Roadside Attraction lineup of, say, 5-6 other acts that precede the Hip in another grand travelling roadshow extravaganza. The rules are: (a) the acts must lean towards the Canadian, but not exclusively so; (b) no band bigger than the Hip (in terms of their canadian audience) can appear on the bill, although legendary acts like Los Lobos and Midnight Oil, that certainly rival or outdo the Hip terms of legendary status and (perhaps) musical chops are fair game; © there should be some mix of styles.
Nominate your bands, with explanations as you like, and work out the order of appearance.
I don't have a full list yet, but Kathleen Edwards and Buck 65 are definitely on my bill. :thumb:

I'm shocked they have the Album cover from "Balance" by Van Halen. Even if it is a bit fucked up, it's still a cool album cover.
