Junos this weekend
hey folks, we're heading out to the Junos this weekend; it's always good to be back in Winnipeg, where we have a long history of fun gigs and great times...we're looking at our induction into the Hall of Fame as a big honour, especially when we see who's already in it, and what they've meant to Canadian music. We were more that a little surprised when we heard we were getting the nod....at first, it felt a bit threatening, probably because we've always looked to the future, to the next album, to the next tour, and looking back doesn't come naturally to any of us...but, we're up for it, and we're happy to be finally playing at the Junos, in an arena where we had an especially memorable gig (with a great crowd) a few months ago...we don't know what we're going to play yet, which is no big shock, and we still have a couple of days left... In the coming months we're going to revamp and rebuild our website, with some help of course...we're excited to change up the site again, and we plan to get more involved in it; we'll keep you posted.... Otherwise, we're going to be writing/jamming and recording for the next while and a half, and things are sounding good so far.... we'll talk to you all soon, Paul

"We produced an initial 25,000 and now we've reordered more," says Shannon. "As long as the demand is there we'll keep bringing them in."

aside from the guitar solo in dire wolf sounding kinda dead inspired i don't know of any meaningful connections between any of the above mentioned songs and the hip songs of the same names... anyone?

Note a certain character kneeling and forcefully talking to his mutt... True, he might be a douchebag, but how can you NOT like the guy after seeing that?

K-OS will probably say the words: "The Tragically Hip, Ahead By A Century" when he performs on Craig Ferguson's Late Late show in 30 minutes... so we're gettin' there.

Of course he could do another song entirely, and then won't you feel stupid for tuning in.

I had an e-mail about the inspiration for "Fire in the Hole," and I could only remember the old newgroup discussions about how the song may have been inspired by the resurgent neo-nazi movement (Which is now thankfully dead) in Southern Ontario in the early 90's, and specifically the CBC documentary "Hearts of Darkness."

Gord's "This is the song I hate, or is it the song a hate" intro seems to hint at the theme, as do the direct "I'd like to let some people know" and "that kid..." lyrics.

I haven't found anything solid to support the idea. Does anybody know of any interviews or comments about where the song came from?

Any1 else catch the hip tonight at 720pm on Etalk daily?
