When I look at the Hip's discography, I always find myself drawn to the Rock N Roll in their repertoire (that's my french for you canadians Smile). Don't get me wrong...I love much of their brooding, introspective, thoughtful stuff (scared, put it off, weaken, gems) and their signature, drama building stuff (giftshop, sharks, trunk of a car). But I'm a sucker for a killer riff and I will always make a mix of their RAWK when I'm heading out to a shindig.

I just wonder why the boys don't share my view. I'd love to see these following tunes included in their sets more often: 3 pistols, inch an hour, heart of the melt, i'll believe in you and freak turbulence. Well.....?

I was shocked to see this on the Albany news and I was wondering what you all thought.

For the record, one of our fellow hipbasers lives in the same town where this happened! I'd love his opinion!

Personally I find it outrageous that it's ok for him to just walk in.

NYSEG meter reader lets self into home/Lou Swierzowski/WNYT

A Mechanicville woman got a big surprise in her kitchen this week. She says the local meter reader just let himself in. The company says there's nothing wrong with that. But others, including the local police chief say the utility company needs to re-think its policy. Christine Vlad was sitting in her pajamas in her Mechanicville home Monday about noon when she says she realized a man had entered her kitchen. He said he was with NYSEG, there to check her meter. She asked him why he was in her kitchen and he said “We do this all the time.”

The meters the New York State electric and gas reader was apparently trying to get to are located down some steep stairs in the basement. Christine says she heard no knock and certainly did not give anybody permission to come inside her house. The door was closed but unlocked. This "no knock, I'm the meter reader" policy definitely comes as a surprise to Mechanicville police. They investigated and confirmed that NYSEG was reading meters in the neighborhood. The police chief says a NYSEG official insists the company had the right to enter residences on its own in non-emergencies in order to access its equipment. There are two other factors at play here. One is common courtesy. You do not do that in this country. The second is a homeowner has the right to defend his domicile, even with deadly physical force. Meter readers could be shot dead and it probably wouldn't even be a crime. Chief Joseph Waldron feels they need to really think that policy out. I can only say NYSEG, you need to research that policy if it is such a policy. The chief says he's still wading through hundreds of public utility laws to determine whether NYSEG was out-of-bounds. If he confirms they are, the meter reader could be charged with criminal trespassing. We've placed multiple calls to NYSEG seeking comment. Those haven't been returned. In case you're wondering, another big utility in this area, Niagara Mohawk says they don't go inside residences uninvited and that almost all of their meters no longer require human reading anyway

these guys are so unbelievable, and the new album is incredible. i wouldn't expect anything less from the coolest band in the whole entire world, but this album totally kicks ass, it sounds like a cross between their debut and sophomore efforts, but seeing as most of you have probably never listened to dredg, it won't matter. what does matter though, is that you check out Dred-Catch Without Arms, and if you like what you hear, then get working on hearing Dredg-Leimotif, and Dredg-El Cielo, and any other rarities, bootlegs, and other Dredg that you can get your hands on 8).


highlights on Catch Without Arms: well, the whole thing is highlight worthy, BUT, here goes..."Hungover On A Tuesday", "Ode To The Sun", "Not That Simple", "Zebra Skin", "Tanbark" "Sang Real", "Spitshine",...this list could've been at least 5 songs longer :lol:

just so you know what to expect: elements of U2, Incubus, At The Drive-In, Deftones and Radiohead coming together to form a sound described by some as "art-metal"...

reccomended if you like: rock and roll that loves to fearlessly combine brains with brawn, beauty with beastly moments of heaviness, but most importantly, if you like to be swept off your feet by a song/album/band, than Dredg are definately the band for you...

anyone hear about this? TTP played here in lloyd last night and when we met with them after the show they were telling us about it...i guess someone from a rival club in red deer released a can of bear mace 3 songs into the show and everyone had real problems breathing and the club had to be evacuated... everyone was terrified & didnt know what was going on. some crazy shit...real cool guys though... got burrows sticks signed and my girlfriend, sister & i got to have a few drinks on the bus with them so it was a pretty cool evening all around :thumb:
