Joe Burke Literary Festival to be held on Wolfe Island next weekend

anyone else get a chance to go? ....solid show, jesus of suburbia blew my mind-10 minutes of pure bliss, covered queens we are the champions...my only complaint is they never played when i come around

Personally, I can't imagine watching this for the first time on a wimpy little computer screen, so I'm gonna wait til I've seen it a couple times in a real theater before I grab it.

I stumbled on this website yesterday, actually by accident. For those who haven't, it is amazing its got all the nintendo classics like: RBI Baseball, Blades of Steel, Ice Hockey-remember the fat guys? Bases Loaded, Double Dragon, Excitebike and Contra, plus hundreds of others, lots and lots of nostalgic fun!!

this isn't really a trading-related question, but i figured people in this forum would probably have the item in question...

for those who have the wasaga dvd cover (not sure who made it), does anyone know how to blend an image to a solid colour, as in the picture on the back cover? or also how the bottom of the image on the front is smeared downward?

i'm just learning about image editing and want to know how to do some of these effects.

what bands do you think the hip should tour with? i would say they should tour with different ones, it would be pretty neat i think

If you have the chance this weekend...GO to Massey Hall! Incredibly moving show. Can't say enough about it, so that's all I'll say.

Top Ten (In no Particular Order)

1). Herbert Werner. U-Boat Captain, WWII. Dude had nerves of steel. Would wait out allied depth charge attacks for 12-15 hrs at a time, hovering near crush depth (700 ft +). Not a nazi. German patroit.

2). Harry Truman. H-Diddy I call em'. Last US president that was not a millionare. Had to borrow funds to get back to the small town of Independence, MO upon leaving the white house in Jan, 53. Also had the balls to tell Joseph Stalin (responsible for the deaths of 22 million of his own peeps) just what he thought of him; and it wasn't pretty. Also made the ethically challenging decision to drop the weapons on hiroshima and nagasaki.

3). J. Steinbeck. Author of Cannery Row (personal fav), Sweet Thursday and Grapes of Wrath. Wrote beautifully about life and society without Hemmingways' bravado filled bullshit style. Sure he wrote for ladies home journal later in his career, and he's on the opra book list today, but as Randy tells Mr. Lahey, "A Man's Gotta Eat".

4). Tom Selleck. Magnum PI. Bitchen'est fictional character of all time. Wore a shitty tigers hat, drove around in his bosses ferrari, was always with a hotty, had friends with cool names like "TC" or "Rick" or my fav, "Higgins"; geeze I wish superior was that quirky and cool. Oh, and he had kickass theme music: da da da dada da da. Oh yeah, and all of this took place in Hawaii. Would this show have been swallowed in any other decade???

5). Kirk Gibson. Baseball player, Tigers/Dodgers. Single handedly won two world series championships with dramatic homeruns off two california pretty boys: Denis Eckersely and Goose Gossage. Waterford Michigan represent beyatch!!!! Kirk will never make the hall, but he gets ten bitchen points for the time I was visiting my friend at MSU and kirk walked into 7-11 in lansing, proceded to buy a sixer, open it in line and start drinking, pay for it, and drive away (god that's a run-on, and I teach english). Kirk, your'e in my hall babe!

6). Evelyn Waugh. British Novelist, early 20th century. Even though he's got a waaaay pussy name, and he was a bitchy british satirist, this guy took no shit from anyone and did what was authentic to him; writing. This guy was so evil, that when people would stop near his cottage near new castle, he would give them wrong directions for kicks! Evil!!!

7). Bob Probert. Hawks / Wings forward. What can I say? I grew up watching Probie. This guy is a fucking man b/c when he got stopped in the windsor tunnel with 5 kilos of coke, he took it like a man, blamed himself and did his time. Will never forget those Stu Grimson / Probie fights.

8). My Dad. Advertising Rep 1972-Present. Fucking great guy. Way smart and could have been an awesome professor in history/german if he had wanted. Thought he could provide better for us if he went into the business world. Sacrificing himself for 30+ yrs in a job that he doesn't really dig. Thanks dad!

9). Ernest McSorely. Captain of the Edmund Fitzgerald 1974-75. Worst storm he'd ever seen, 35-40 waves on superior, pumps non-functional, taking on water, and the last thing the dude says before taking the plunge: "Anderson, the Fitz is holding her own". So concerned about showing confidence in front of his crew and afraid of tarnishing the rep of the men or the boat, that he acted like a man even as the boat was goingn down.

10). Lt. Chard. 1879 South Africa Regiment British Military. Was in charge of the out post rorke's drift. 130 men. 40 of which totally injured. Faced an onslaught of 6,000 zulu warriors for an 18 hour period and held them off.
