I was just wondering if anybody knows what the second single on Local 518 will be, or even if there is going to be one. Also, what do you guys/gals think it should be? Personally, I think "Shake It Off" would get some decent air-time, I mean, I think its a kickin' tune.

Well folks, school is back in this week and fall is slowly starting to kick in. So what's been frozen in your CD player over the past three months? For me it's been:

1. Cuff the Duke- Cuff the Duke
The perfect summer record. Quirky alt-country pop with great songs and instantly catchy melodies. Makes ya wanna sing along at the top of your lungs everytime you put it on. Sounds especially wonderful when sitting on the back porch of a house on Vancouver Island overlooking the ocean.

2. Son Volt- Okemah and the Melody of Riot
And you thought "American Idiot" was political? This is the sound of Jay Farrar gettin angry with America, cranking his amp up to 11, and delivering his strongest effort since "Trace". A brilliant record.

3. Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir- The High Co$t of Low Living
For me this is one of the strongest albums of the year so far. It's got a bit of everything: rock, country, new wave, and old school punk-rock all rolled into one. Great songs, great lyrics, and a kick-ass delivery by Hugh. I love it. Can't wait to see these guys tomorrow night in Calgary.

4. Matt Mays & El Torpedo- Self-titled
Rock n' freakin roll, baby! 14 whopping tracks and not a single dud on the entire thing. That's pretty rare these days. Great songs. Great band.

5. Arcade Fire- Funeral
This album has obviously been out for a while, but I only discovered it this summer, and oh what a discovery it was. An absolutely gorgeous record. Definitely one of the most unique bands this country has ever produced.

Hey all. I have a few questions about the things going on in Canada, living in the US now its hard to keep up to date with whats going on...I left the same day Belinda Stronach (sp?) switched over to the liberals...so my question is does anyone know what happened between her and Stephen McKay (they were/are dating right?)?

and also about the sponsorship scandal...what ever happened with that?

It seems that the boys have been playing to large crouds and in big venues for a while. I think I read once that they occasionally like to play a small venue to get that feeling they had in the early years. I also really like the live recordings from small shows. Maybe they could come back to St. Louis, MO where only 300 people have heard of them, HAHA. I've been waiting since the PP tour
