Alright, with all the Super Bowl festivities around here the rumours are working overtime. A friend of mine just called me to tell me the Hip were playing (with all people) Bon Jovi here in Windsor on Saturday- can this be true? If it is I'm going to be one VERY angry girl; I have Kid Rock tickets for Saturday night at Joe Louis Arena, and I there's no way I can give the ticket away- in order to cross the border we needed to call ahead and give our personal info to the border police so we can cross. If the creds don't match- you don't cross.

I'm not a Kid fan by any stretch; I'm going with a group of people and we'll have a good time anyway. But if this is true... well, I'm pretty sure I'm going to full out bawl.

Are the boys going to be in Windsor??

To celebrate what is arguably the coldest, dreariest and gloomiest month of the year, I’ve decided to offer a bit of reprieve to my fellow Hip fans.

I’m going through my bootleg collection, and I’m pulling out all of the shows I have that were recorded in February. I’m going to try my best to share them all on the tracker on their respective anniversaries.

I do not claim to have recordings of every show, but I will post the ones that I do have. I will not post anything that has already been uploaded onto the tracker, unless I can offer an upgrade, or several requests are made, and no one is able to re-seed the original. I’m currently in the process of ripping and compressing files, and I won’t guarantee that I’ll actually find all of these shows, or that I won’t find some other unexpected ones, but most likely I’ll be sharing these:

In other words, please be understanding if something unforeseen happens to delay any of these uploads.

Before signing off, I’d like to take this opportunity to challenge any other collectors out there to jump on the wagon any fill any of the gaps. If you’ve got a February show that’s not listed above, please reply here with your intentions to upload it when the time comes. I know that I’d love to add to my collection!

I’ll start later today (Feb. 1) with the short radio broadcast of a Diamond Club gig from 1988. If all goes well, and I can stay a couple of steps ahead, maybe I’ll carry this into March, and beyond…

I'm far from a protesting-feminist-ready-to-lie-down-on-a-highway-vegan-hippie, but I think it would be pretty hard for anyone who's ever petted a dog or cat not to care about this video. I'm not a big PETA activist, but Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) made a 2 min. long video about the fur trade in China. It's pretty short, so if you have a second (or 114), check it out:

China—where not a single law exists to protect animals on fur farms—has become the world's leading exporter of fur. An undercover investigation found that millions of dogs and cats in China are bludgeoned, hanged, strangled with wire nooses, and bled to death for their fur, which is often intentionally mislabelled as fur from other species. PETA has also obtained undercover video footage that shows that fur farmers in China swing foxes and raccoon dogs by their hind legs and smash their heads on the ground —breaking the animals' necks but leaving them panting, blinking, and conscious as they are skinned alive.

Animals trapped in the wild for their fur often suffer for days before they are stomped or bludgeoned to death. Some, especially nursing mothers, have been known to chew off their own limbs in an attempt to escape the traps. Animals on fur farms live in tiny, filthy cages where they are exposed to all weather extremes and suffer severe psychological and physical distress before they are poisoned, gassed, and electrocuted or have their necks broken as they scream and writhe in pain.
