So I'm back from my self-induced week Hiatus, and I've tried sifting through everything, but its taking very long. So is there any recent news that I should be caught up on?

Hey everyone... it's time to pull myself out of debt, so I've come up with a web business, and I need someone to build it for me. The site will be almost all dynamic code, and I will need a database as well. I have an idea as to how much this would cost, but if anyone here would like to offer their services and a price, or knows someone who would, please PM me. Thanks!

Next week I'm going to the Great Big Sea show in London, at the JLC. I'm really looking forward to it, anyone else been to one of their shows?

And in two weeks I'm going to see Aerosmith!!!! This should be a good show, I'm hoping, for the price of tickets, I better leave their with a perma smile on my face. I have no idea what to expect, old stuff? new stuff? everything? who knows

i know its probably been posted a million times, but i was watching this movie last night and heard sarah polley (?) do a cover of Courage. It was pretty good, albeit entirely different from the hip version.

The Canadian Tire couple is no more.

When the retailer unveiled its new spring ad campaign Thursday, the bearded handyman Ted and his wife Gloria were nowhere to be seen.

The famous pitch-couple had been showing off innovative products for the hardware chain for almost a decade. Loved by some and hated by many, the couple had transcended advertising into the realm of pop culture, where they were parodied by the likes of Royal Canadian Air Farce and This Hour has 22 Minutes.

Tracy Fellows, a vice president of advertising at Canadian Tire Corp., said the couple's “demo-mercials” were effective, but internal research showed that they were starting to wear on consumers by late last year.

“Though those demo-mercials were extremely successful for us over the last eight years, it was time for us to move on and try to build more of an integrated program between the brand spots and the product spots working closer together,” Ms. Fellows said.

The new Canadian Tire campaign will make its debut during Saturday's Hockey Night in Canada Broadcast.

One spot features a couple covetously eyeing their neighbours' backyard. As they imagine the things they could do with their own yard, Canadian tire signs appear in different parts of the yard, indicating the aisle numbers where different products can be found.

Other ads will continue to highlight specific products, but in a more humorous, less earnest way than the Canadian Tire couple spots.

“We've injected a little more wit, a little personality, a little charm — something that we felt was missing,” said Lance Martin, associate creative director at Taxi Advertising and Design.

The new ads mark the first Canadian Tire campaign for Taxi, which replaced Doner Canada as the retailer's agency last year

Okay, so I've decided to make sure I possess every Tragically Hip song on my iTunes. Not so simple as it sounds, though.

There are a lot of arbitrary decisions to be made. For instance, I've decided to include Gord's solo work but not sure if I'll use Bobby's. I will include jokes like Edelweiss but don't think I'll include the national anthem.

So, I thought I'd throw a few questions out there.

1) If you were doing this, what would be out and what would be in?

2) For the fans familiar with more bootlegs than I am, what are some songs that have changed so much that you could refer to them as a different version of the song? For example, live Poets with "Bring out your dead" and "writers who get laid" and "swim" is sort of the Poets: Director's cut, so it will go in the collection, where as a really good live version of Bobcaygeon with an extra Gord extro probably wouldn't, as that's sort of part and parcel of the live experience, but not necessarily a new song in its own right. Exceptions will be made for Killerwhaletank and Double Suicide as they have taken on a life of their own. (See how complicated this can be?)

Other songs that have changed enough to be considered different versions of the song in my mind are the double-time Hundredth Meridian and Fire in the Hole with Burning Church intro. Are there others?

3) I don't want every song with them on it, so what couple of songs changed the most thanks to Kate Fenner and Chris Brown?

4) Are there any songs known to have been performed by the Hip that are not recorded anywhere? (Limelight excluded.)

I just can't get over this song, I listen to it multiple times over and over from Calgary 2005.

What an amazing song, there's something emotional about it. I would have to say right now (as favourites change constantly) hearing and seeing it live was one of the most *amazing* (and I mean it) concert experiences I have ever had.

It has that feeling as a moment I will never ever forget. Legendary.

Hi everyone, I'm rather new to all of this but am a long time Hip fan as I'm sure most of you are. I'm very interested in starting a collection of Hip bootlegs. So far the only two i have are The Copper Penny 1985 and Barrymore's 1988. More than willing to trade, we all got to start somewhere. Thanks alot -James
