Trying to think of my first hip concert.
It was in Ottawa on New Year's eve ? early 90s.
Can't seem to find the exact date !
I remember waking up hungover badly and was remarking how great The Hip were and Downie was hillarious !
My friend said, "There was a band ?".
And then proceeded to the Porcelain God for a submission.
Hi Everyone,
Here's my recording from what will most likely be my final Hip show. A bit boomy as I was at the back of the FirstOntario Centre, but just happy to be there.

Chart Attack asked me to write the script for their retrospective video on the Tragically Hip. Pretty happy with how it turned out. I think it's worth a watch:

Hi all. To cut a long story short(er), I will be away camping here in England during the Kingston broadcast with no way of seeing it. No electricity, no wifi, no phone signal. I had planned to stay up until the 1:30AM broadcast to see it, on MY BIRTHDAY no less, but there is just no way to work it out (and I just couldn't avoid this family holiday). I know people will be PVRing it, but I'm not feeling overly confident that it will remain on the CBC YouTube site post-transmission. If ANYONE has the means to post the video recording somewhere for download, or can burn to a DVD and mail it to me, I will be FOREVER in your debt.
I know people have said they're sure it will show up on torrents, etc, but I'm just throwing this out there hoping someone can help me out, just in case. Hopefully you can put yourself in my position, a displaced Canadian HIP mega-fan, with no possible way to watch this transmission, relying on my fellow HIP family members to help me get the chance to see this "last" (hopefully not) concert. I've watched a couple of Periscope feeds (Toronto 2 and Ottawa) which were AWESOME, but this Kingston show is going to be SPECIAL, and not to be missed. So if you planned to record the CBC transmission and are able to move it somewhere where I would be able to watch it, I will be eternally grateful. Cheers for reading this, my "fingers and toes" will remain crossed that this will work out.
Anyone else here? Found out our neighbours are going too . Also hearing a few stereos playing hip.
Hoping for a solid post show vibe back here
Here's some other useful links I found with info about downtown, parking, shuttles, etc

This popped up on my Facebook feed today - did a quick search and didn't see it previously posted.

This article makes me think of Homer Simpson saying "Everyone knows rock achieved perfection in 1974. It's a scientific fact." only this time it's 1998.

Please humor me here, as I'm not looking to have the "is it or is it not the LAST" show tomorrow...
We've heard the rumors, and my wife feels like fans going to Kingston will be pissed if there are shows beyond tomorrow. My counterpoint has been that the band has never announced this as the end, and people can choose to pay whatever they want, but shouldn't be mad or feel slighted if they play more.
So my question isn't whether or not they will, but IF They do, how would you feel?
Particularly looking for the opinions of those going to Kingston.
Does anybody know the name of the song that was played right before the hip came on?
I have a very good single on the floor for Kingston and am very grateful. That said, I'm hoping to trade my single plus a few hundred cash for your pair anywhere but back/rear stage.
If you want to be row 11 floor 4 on the inside aisle facing the stage - giving you a perfect unobstructed view, text me and let me know where your pair is. I don't often check PMs so please text or email at hip2day@yahoo.com
Looking to go with my brother so I'll give up my floor seat to get us both in, and you can get a seat upgrade and a little cash if a friend bailed (why would they though??). Just taking a flyer and putting this out there!
All 3 of us will enter the concert together to make it safe for all of us.
Email or text me at 416-737-6956.
Thx!
Hello all,
I'm looking to put something together to put on my wall. I attended the Toronto shows, and managed to get a setlist from show 2. I also bought a tour poster, and I'm thinking of getting it framed with a few good pics. Problem is, anything i took with my iphone, isn't very good.
If anyone has any decent photos they dont mind sharing, it'd be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Dan
