I had this thought while listening to World Container the other day.

We all know that when we are younger, the passing of a year seems much longer, and 4 years ago seems like forever ago etc. etc.

When I became Hip obsessed in 2004 at age 16, a discouraging thought for myself was how I missed out on the 'classic' Hip days. In my mind, those years would have been everything up to 4 years prior, M@W. I would daydream about being born a generation earlier, and The Hip days of yester-year. When your 16, 4 years can feel like more than a decade (25% of your life up until that point).

In 2004, Nautical Disaster was a 'classic' rock / Hip song for me. In my time being a fan, Nautical Disaster simply just always existed. And it was a full TEN years old. What it must have been like to be a Hip fan during those 'classic' Hip days...

Well, as we get older, the years go by more quickly. It's 2016, and World Container is now ten years old. And to me now, listening to Family Band is just as classic Nautical Disaster. I used to dream about being there for 'Classic' Hip days, when I did not realize at the time that I was currently in the middle of all of it.

Maybe I had a few too many when I had that thought, but I wanted to share.

I know now how lucky I am to have caught on when I did. There are probably teenagers out there right now, discovering The Hip, thinking how long ago 2006 was. Hell, if your 16 now, Now For Plan A came out when you were 12, and We Are The Same when you were 9.

I know the last few months have been Hip crazy, but I cannot overstate how much Mr. Downie's 'solo' career kicks ass. All Hip albums in the Top 200 and not even one Downie record? Coke Machine Glow hasn't cracked the Top 200 yet? Jeeeeshhhh

Last night, my case of Labatt 50 was accompanied by Battle of the Nudes, and there are several moments on that record that are.... ..... ....epic.

Who By Rote -> Steeplechase - Probably my favourite moment on BotN at the moment.

As someone who wants all of his favourite albums on vinyl... CMG and BotN need a vinyl pressing!

Has anybody else been rediscovering these albums? (Or, re-re-re-rediscovering?)

Does this exist in any format? Is there a link to a reliable torrent?

Sorry for the undignified first post but I'm from the states and I had a wedding that weekend (which I considered skipping, alarmingly seriously) and all my moron yank friends are like, The Tragically Who? (Are those safe anymore?) Even if you just recorded it on VHS, hit me up. Willing to ship you craft beer in return for help! (Sorry if this is a duplicate question or in the wrong forum.)

I remember streaming this concert off thehip.com for a few months back in 2000. Any idea if there's a copy available for download somewhere?

Now we know what it's like for the band every night on this tour. That must be pretty moving to see your dedicated fans sobbing and singing their hearts out to a song your wrote 20 years ago.

So this summer I decided to listen to my iPod alphabetically, and it got me to thinking:

If you could only listen to Hip songs starting with one letter for the rest of time, what letter would you choose and why?

For me, it is C. First, because it has my favorite song (Cordelia) but some other personal favorites (Completists, Chagrin Falls) and one of my wife's favorites (Coffee Girl). But D was a really close second...

New studio album this November. I'm constantly amazed at how prolific this guy is. I find his albums tend to be hit & miss as a result, but I always look forward to hearing new material from him nonetheless. I loved his 2014 self-titled disc, and last year's Taylor Swift covers album was pretty great as well.

Has anyone looked at setlist.fm lately? They have a few shows for 1988-92 that are missing from the hipbase archive. How reliable do you think the site is?
