I'll start off by saying that the performance was great and I enjoyed the show very much.
However, the day started off kinda shitty right off the bat. The band was apparently held
up on the Queenston/Lewiston bridge for something like 5 hours, this is what was relayed to
me anyway. So, the band arrived late. Doors were supposed to open up between 6:30-6:45,
which they did. We got all the way up to the lawn picked a spot and then the band manager
told us we had to go all the way back to the gate cause they weren't suuposed to let us in
yet. So, then we waited till almost 7:30 to re-enter... so stupid. The show started and
everything sounded great until the right stack pointed out twords the lawn decided to take
a shit, and many more shits after that which was completely and utterly unacceptable!!!

In this recording I, and maybe you can hear the difference when the stack goes out but I did
nothing with the sound to compensate for it. It was a bit windy and my recording surely
reflects that in some parts which is admittedly a annoying but what the hell can I do
about it? Overall I think the recording came out fairly well, flaws and all.

Im a huge fan of Matt Good/MGB, so I thought Id mention his new album drops July 31st. You can stream the entire album if you're a registered member of his site. I listened to it today and I think its great, not his best solo effort but he hasn't lost his touch as a songwriter, definitely worth getting if your a fan of Matt Good.

Ok if this should be in the "non-Hip" area feel free to move it but I thought it might be better in this forum as it's related to downloading and trading.

So I've decided that I know longer want to be taping shows anymore, at least not at the extent I have been for the past year so if anyone is interested in getting a killer set up let me know.

Not sure how many people on hipbase want to jump into a high end recording set up but I thought I'd through it out there and see if there was anyone interested.

Included:

Edirol R4 4 track recorder - Bought new last August
AKG 481 mics - bought new last September
Shure Vertical bar for mounting mics - bought used last year
Various cables needed to run all this stuff.


Make an offer if you're serious and I'll get back to you.

This gear can only be used at shows where the bands allow taping, you wouldn't be able to sneak this stuff in anywhere so please keep that in mind.

Well after a long time of not framing my Hip posters I've decieded to try a different route, which might be more productive. Framing my Hip posters. But I have no clue where the hell to go. I popped into Pictures Frames and more, who were totally unhelpful and did dick all ,so, fuck that noise. Just wondering where you guys go to get your posters professionally framed, and how the service was.

LEWISTON — The Tragically Hip hit the Artpark stage performing “Ocean” Saturday night, with a sea of fans packing the amphitheater for the first show of the group’s two-night, sold-out stand.

And even though the Hip started later than expected, fans roared their approval as the Canadian group’s musicians came into view.

Exploding onto the stage, the Tragically Hip — Gordon Downie on lead vocals, Bobby Baker on guitar, Paul Langlois on guitar, Gord Sinclair on bass and Johnny Fay on drums — immediately followed up with “Music at Work,” while the entire venue lit up as Downie crooned the song from one of the band’s untraditional albums, released in 2000.

Since 1987, the band has released 13 albums, including its first, self-titled album, as well as “In Violet Light,” “Phantom Power” and “Road Apples.”

The band became popular in Canada and, with the release of the album “Fully Completely,” broke into the U.S. market, selling out practically every show.

The show at Artpark was no exception. The Hip, as devoted fans refer to them, played songs from their new album, “World Container,” released in 2006.

The band treated fans to the group’s most memorable songs, like “Grace, Too,” in which Downie pandered to fans by pretended to take bullets to his chest.

The Hip also entertained the crowd with its classic “New Orleans Is Sinking,” featuring firework sound effects. Downie told fans the fireworks were representative of war and then picked up his guitar as fellow band members strummed the opening of the song. Regardless of any positions fans held about war, the entire venue came alive as fans jumped, danced and sang along.

Fans ate up the Hip’s downtempo “Ahead by a Century.” Even as the mood in the amphitheater calmed down, fans swayed with the beat and sang along with Downie.

Spectators cheered as the band extended the ending of the song to rock out even more.

As the show wound down, the Hip treated the audience to newer music, like “The Lonely End of the Rink” and “The Kids Don’t Get It.” No matter what song, the energy level from band and fans never waned.

The Tragically Hip will perform again tonight.

Happy Canada Day everyone!

I figured there would be no better time to upload the dvd I made from the MuchMusic broadcasts than on the 15 year anniversary.

A big thanks to rocketsan22 for sending me the vhs tapes, as this comes from his collection (still finishing up the next dvd for the tracker.)

Both shows have been widely circulated, as vcds, and on one of the Grab Bags, but I always thought there should be a dvd of its own for these 2 terrific shows.

Included are pics of my ticket stub from the Barrie concert, the t-shirt I bought that day, and a review from the Toronto Sun on July 2nd. Would have scanned the review, but that would mean hooking up my scanner, and it's not on my list of things to do today (e. hickey....lol).

Anyway, enjoy!
