The Hip need your help

In just one week, the Tragically Hip takes the stage to play the inaugural concert at the Kingston Regional Sports and Entertainment Centre.

The lights come up.

The crowd goes wild.

And frontman Gord Downie looks into the sold-out audience of 6,700 die-hard fans, grabs his mic, and yells "are you ready to rock, Kingston!"

And then Downie, Gord Sinclair, Rob Baker, Johnny Faye and Paul Langlois begin to rock - but which song?

In an exclusive interview with The Whig-Standard that we'll be publishing next week, Baker talks about many interesting things - the band might just be working on a new album - but one thing he wouldn't disclose is the setlist for the band's first show at the city's newest concert hall.

Maybe that's because they're still trying to decide whether to play a classic such as Courage or Little Bones or go with something new like the single In View from their most recent album, World Container. Better yet, what about the appropriately titled The Lonely End of the Rink from that disc?

We thought it would be fun if we made the Hip's job less stressful by suggesting a good first song for their first concert at the new downtown venue, and their first local concert since 2004's Across the Causeway rock show.

Just wondering if there are any MK fans in here? North American tour dates were just announced yesterday with more to come. I noticed there was one Candadian date so far--Ottawa, ON.

Has anyone heard the new album (Kill to Get Crimson)?

Hi guys,

I was wondering if someone could help me out. I (stupidly) didn't download Mark's torrent of the Canadian club shows back in 2006, but I'd love to get a copy of them. Due to bandwidth/storage space issues, I don't think I'd be able to download and then seed it 1:1 if it was to be reposted on the tracker, so I was hoping someone could do me a B&P/Trade? I have a load of DVD's as well as audio which I am happy to trade with (and not just The Hip, I also have a load of Rush, Manic Street Preachers, Tool and various other band's recordings).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Hip concert tickets top prize in raffle

Were you hoping to see The Tragically Hip when they perform in Kingston later this month but couldn't get tickets before the show sold out?

Here's your chance. Dawn House Women's Shelter is holding a fundraising raffle for the non-profit homeless shelter for women and children, and Hip tickets are the top prize.

Tickets are only $5 each and there are only 600 printed.

The prize package includes two tickets to the sold-out Tragically Hip show at the new downtown facility on Feb. 23, dinner for two at the Kingston Brewing Company Ltd., as well as merchandise from the pub.

Tickets are available at the Kingston Brewing Company Ltd. (34 Clarence St.), Brian's Record Option (381 Princess St.) and Zap Records (340 Princess St.).

The winning ticket will be drawn at the Kingston Brewing Company Ltd. at 6 p.m. on Feb. 20.

Lenny was never one for re-writing the book, but this is a pretty kick ass guilty pleasure...lots of Zep rifs on it, his voice sounds great, and it flows from start to finish..great CD to clean the house to! :thumb:
