It's not an album that I listen to a lot anymore, mostly in favor of the Live Vault archives or some other boots. I think in part because I know it's not the full show. At the time, I recall I was really pleased to get a great sounding Hip live show, but the "blank and trade" Hip network was really hitting high gear at the same time and there were a lot of good shows circulating. My only wish for this album would be a re-release with all tracks.

That said, with lots of Gord improvisational skills and snippets or phrases of other tunes this is a really cool snapshot of the band at that time. For new fans who never saw the band live, I always recommend it as a good glimpse into what a live show was like. One thing that struck me in their earlier years is they consistently hit new levels in terms of performance. My focus had always been on Gord, he was hard to not fixate on, but every show the band would bring something a bit different. You get a glimpse of this on LBT, especially on older tracks like Luxury, where Paul and Rob really do some amazing rhythm and lead.

One cool thing may be identifying some of the ad-libs -- Montreal in Courage just feels like a cruel tease, and I'd love to know why Gord added it on this night. I've wondered if he figured tape was rolling for this release, and it was a song that was passed by a few albums before and deserved some form of recording? I don't have any other shows from that era where Montreal made an ad lib appearance.

"Every single, recorded track or album I have produced is represented," Young promised when announcing his plans for the online archive earlier this year. "It is always current. You can browse the music I made between today's date and 1963, when I made my first recording in Canada and it was released as a 45 RPM single."

My two musical heroes are Neil Young and Gord Downie. Seeing Neil at a small intimate show like this would be medicine for my soul.

People looking to get their hands on the Courage (for Gord Downie) beer made by some Nova Scotian breweries are going to need some luck as supplies are dwindling.

The creators originally envisioned the special beer as a 2,000-bottle run to help raise money for causes that were close to the heart of the late Tragically Hip singer, but after a huge response, they decided to up that to around 6,400 bottles.

It appears even the uptick in production won't meet the demand for the product.

Downie died last month from an aggressive and incurable form of brain cancer called glioblastoma, which he discovered after a seizure in December 2015.

The beer was created as a partnership between Garrison Brewing, Boxing Rock Brewing and Erin McGuire, who created the artwork featured on the label.

A dollar from each bottle will go to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada and Indigenous peoples reconciliation.

Raising $11K

Brian Titus, the president of Garrison Brewing in Halifax, said that between the bottles sold and money raised at the product's launches at the two breweries, a total of about $11,000 will be raised.

The name of the beer is inspired by the beloved Hip song Courage (for Hugh MacLennan).

The beer is a Canadian amber wheat with above-average hop levels for the style and comes in a 650-millilitre bottle. The label features references to Hip song lyrics.

"It's not just a simple knockoff Canadian lager kind of thing. We wanted to make something a bit more complex ... We figure he's a relatively complex guy and so we didn't want to make anything too simple and too light," said Titus.

The beer launched just over a week ago, and was available for sale at the two breweries involved in producing it, as well as some private liquor stores, but sold out quickly.

The beer is now just starting to make its way to a select number of NSLC locations.

It is also making its way out of province. It will soon be available in New Brunswick, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The beer arrived on P.E.I. last week.

"We did the best we could to spread it across the country," said Titus.

He said the brewery has fielded calls from places as far flung as Florida, Tennessee and New York wondering how they can get their hands on the beer.

"Hip fans are everywhere, whether they're expats or people who have just picked up on the music and realized the genius [of the music]," said Titus.

The project has been a huge success, but not for the companies' bottom lines.

"It's a significant chunk of the revenue going to the causes, but both breweries could not be prouder than to have been part of this project," said Titus.

First of all, I love this album. But then again I love everything Gord ever did. It's still hard to believe that this is all real but slowly I am starting to put some of these songs to names. Or trying to that is.

I feel like Ricky, Please is for Rick Wellington - the bands and HIS head of security. Just feels like its a match with "You got to the only door I got" and "We were together through so much". I mean, maybe I'm wrong but I thought I would see what others thought.

Sorry if this has been discussed already somewhere but it just came to me tonight.

As someone who's a bit of a perfectionist (and likely has a bit of OCD), it's bothered me that Disc One of Yer Favourites has 1 new song + 17 favourites, while Disc Two has 1 new song + 18 favourites.

Add 1 song to Disc One so there's 19 songs on each disc.

I know this is an extremely difficult task. I've narrowed it down to about 5 or 6, but I think I have to go with "Putting Down". From the lyrics, I suspect this is where Gord's interest in the plight of Canada's indigenous was piqued.

Anyway, simple rules, pick one song to add to Disc One. You don't have to worry about time limitations to fit the song in, just pick one. Any song, any album, from The Tragically Hip through In Between Evolution.
