I’ve never been a Spotify user but recently downloaded the app. For those who pay for premium access, sell me on it. Is it truly offline listening? Is it worth $10/mo?
Sorry if this has been discussed (I looked for a thread). With the final concert coming on Blu and DVD, I just assumed that it would also be released on an audio only format (stand alone or bundled with the DVD). I love watching the concert but I'm much more likely to listen to it in my car or from my phone. It doesn't look like this is happening. Any word about it being released? Did I miss its inclusion on the product release? Is a (legal) download available somewhere? Thanks!

Hey all,
I like hearing peoples stories of their run-ins with the guys from the hip. Thought maybe we could share some here.
I have a couple, so here is one ...
Gord Downie - Ottawa Secret Path Show
After the show Me and my buddy were trying to avoid the congested exits as people were lining up at the doors to get out. We happened to spot a couple who were taking a different rout than the rest so we decided to follow them (maybe they knew something we didn't?).
After going through a couple doors and hallways (that all seemed to look the same) It was evident that these two had no idea where they were going.
We just passed a sign on the wall that said backstage entrance. I'm thinking to myself, we should NOT be here.
I spoke up and asked them if they knew where they were going. The gentleman turns around and its Gord Sinclair with his wife. He's lost and has no idea.
So we team up and finally find our way to an exit door of the NAC. Now At this point we just joined back in with that large crowd we were trying to avoid in the first place (too funny). I notice people around me are looking at Gord, not quite sure if that's him or not. They are whispering with each other and pointing. He's not giving anything away and just continues on. The crowd finally breaks up some and were off onto the streets of Ottawa.
Walked to the Westin Hotel with him and his wife. We went our way and they went theirs.
Moving on to Round 4 with the elimination of The Bear and The Completists.

For what became a pretty impressive body of solo work, I think CMG may remain my favorite. Just as an overall impression, I find it pretty interesting that Gord was able to carve out this section of a career that was really musically separate and distinct from The Hip. There are not too many instances where I hear a solo song and think "that could have been a Hip song".
My main recollection of this album was hearing complete versions of the bits and pieces that had been interjected into songs over the past few years of shows. I'm also guessing I was likely confused by some of the more casual arrangements and the spoken word, but this remains an album that I come back to fairly regularly. I'm looking forward to the vinyl issue -- I don't expect it to be sonically superior, but it will be good to sit and listen to the album without interruption (i'll admit I often skip the spoken word if they come up in shuffle).
I was always curious about the band reaction to Gord's solo work. I don't think they ever said anything publically, until Rob's interview on the guitar stand that happened right around when Gord died (my impression was the interview was done at a time Rob knew the end was near). I''ll "paraphrase", but I recall he said they were not happy about Gord making a solo album and wondered if it was maybe the end of the band, but came to appreciate what Gord was able to do with his solo work. It must have been odd to see lyrics that had become part of the Hip show go into a solo album, but possibly it gave Gord an outlet for some less traditional songs and arrangement ideas that then allowed The Hip to continue on.
I do regret never seeing a Gord solo show -- for whatever reason, it never seemed to work out in my schedule.
