I saw Bob and Paul at my work!!!
I work at the Casino in Halifax. Paul and Bob where playing some blackjack!!! I didn't get to server them because I was just finishing work. It was 3:30am
hock:
It was really cool to see them at my work!! The girl that serverd Paul said that is was really drunk, but she wasn't about to cut him off
Another girl that I work with said "Who is the guy with long hair? He looks like Jesus..."
AHAHAHAH
That was funny stuff, anyway. Its 4:20am and I need to get some sleep for the show laster on today
Well, just arrived back in Buffalo from NY, had a great time. My wife and I
spent all day Friday seeing the sites, then went back to freshen up and
catch a quick rest before the show. We arrived at Irving Plaza around 6:15
sort of expecting a crowd, there was none, in fact if it was for the big
green bus out front, you would never know there was a show there. So we
went next door to enjoy a couple $5 Amstel Lights(not my favorite) at a
place called galaxy. Cool place, we hung out for a while and met a few
Hipsters, we met alot of cool people there, alot of Canadians at the show,
one guy was from Clearwater Fla. a transplant from Burlington. SO I was
hanging out by the front door, watching the scalpers, when Bobby, Johnny and
Gord S. go walking by, I totally missed a photo op, about five minutes later
Paul goes walking by, they were in the bus right in front of the place! By
now a line was forming, so my wife and I wanted to get up front, so we
hopped in line, the doors didn't even open until 8:00, we were about 30th in
line, we got in and skated right to a spot stage left about 3 feet away,
turned out to be a good spot for the show. I ran to the bar to get a couple
beers for us, then proceeded back to guard our spot. Mark Copeley(sic)
opened he didn't go on until around 9, I wasn't real impressed with him, I
liked about 3 of the songs he played. While they were on stage the place
really filled up, our great spot was getting smaller and smaller. Now it
was pushing 10 and people were getting restless, finally the boys take the
stage and have at it. Opened up with Use it up, they sounded great, played
a great set. The crowd was for awesome for the most part, one guy really
tried to get up front during 100th meridian, but he moved on and everything
was cool. The people around us seemed to accept the new stuff, someone
asked me if I was with the band, cause I knew all the words and was writing
down all the songs? Gord was really on, he goofed a little during I think
Wheat Kings, he missed the last verse, the band rocked on, and Gord kind of
just ranted on. After the song ended we heard him turn to Gord S. and Bobby
and said, "I forgot the last verse" Pretty funny I thought, then during
Fifty Mission Cap, he was dancing with his mic, and it crashed to the floor,
Gord scooped it up and proceeded to "scold" it saying, "where are you going,
where are you going, you're nothing without me" Sorry for this epic, but it
was a great show, I saw 2 tapers, hopefully the shows will get out. Here is
the setlist:

http://www.hiker.org.il/lyrics.htm
is where they are located ... basically the lyrics play as you listen.. its pretty kewl.
-----Are you ready-------
Hear the old whistle blowin'
they're pulling the plug
we got to get going
they got our hole dug
are you ready? Are you ready, are you ready to love?
Are you ready? Ready, are you ready to love?
The Devils in the blues
smoked to the stub
never accept
them except with a shrug
Are you ready? Are you ready, are you ready to love?
Are you ready? Ready, are you ready to love?
to love,
to love,
to love,
to love.
They got safety fifth
and they take the world straight
whatever it is
they'll just have to wait
to get pretended back
who wants to the tough
to be permanent
permanent enough
are you ready? Are you ready, are you ready to love?
are you ready? Are you ready, are you ready to love?
Are you ready? Ready, are you ready to love?
Are you ready? Ready, are you ready to love?
to love,
to love,
to love,
-----Use it up-----
use it all up
don't save a thing for later
if there's music of their laying in wait
to pounce and drain every ounce if you wait or hesitate
and music that'll help you the tough
and come together on more than Springsteen
the most days it's been enough
then there's music that can take you away
away
away
away
So use it up
use it all up
don't save a thing for later
use it up
Use it all up
don't save a thing for later
If there's music of their staying awake
to cry and drain every eye until hatred's eliminated
and music that can help you feel great
and come together in 'the fictive dream'
with a kinda Randy Newman take
there's music that can take you away
away
away
away
where we can jump to our feet, agape
'cause nothing is cruel
and even if it is or was
in defeasably cruel
and we don't care because ...
yer a fool
I'm a fool
yer a fool
and I'm a fool
for music that can take you away
for music that can take you away
for music that can take you away
music that can take you away
So use it up
use it all up
don't save a thing for later
-----The darkest one-----
Come in, come in, come in
from under these darling skies come in
its warm and it safe in here and almost harkening
off to a time and place now lost on our imagination
Where you don't complain - but you still do
in the don't explain - if you want to - explain
what you believe you say with a shame, ' I just do'
to say what you mean you don't mean what you say
- or you do
Where the wild are strong
and the strong are the darkest ones
and you're the darkest one
Come in, come in, come in, come in
from thin and wicked prairie winds, come in
its warm and it's safe here and almost heartening
here in a time and place not lost on our imagination
Where you don't explain - but you still do
in your can complain - if you want to - complain
they are you're real instrumental or supple or sexy as hell
where you say ' I believe' or say without shame,
' I can't tell'
Where the wild are strong
and the strong are the darkest ones
and you're the darkest one
o' and you're the darkest one
and if that's what you want
o' then you're the darkest one
Just wondering what we may get in Halifax
I have a few issues with thehipclub.com
1. They have to update the site alot more if they want people to come back more than once a wee. Everytime some goes to the site and sees that it has not been update the less likly they will come back again.
2. The site should remember your card number. I hate taking out my card and typing in that number everytime. That will also discourage people even more from visiting the site.
aaa... That felt better
It has been recorded!!
And will be out very soon!!!
Stay tune for more details
Have been trying to see the Hip for several years and have never been able to catch a show. Finally got to see them perform last night in Philadelphia and wow, what a show. Unbelievable... they really tore up the stage. The fellas were sweating their @sses off (there's a heat wave here right now), especially Gordon, but did not let that slow them down. It was also good to see so many Canadians in the crowd, i even saw a few flags out there! Can't wait to see them again, hope it won't be so long until my next concert.
Ok, so you're a Hip fan..but as a fan do you collect things related to The Hip? Some fans collect bootlegs videos and concerts. Others collect posters, ticket stubs, T-shirts. Do you just enjoy the music? What do you collect?
I have a few things I've started attaining. Some items I have in my collection are:
An original Setlist
Roxy Revisted CD (finally a clean version of KillerWhaleTank!)
A number of concert bootlegs
A Backstage Pass from the Phantom Menace Tour.
Many promo single CD's
Most items I picked up via Ebay and with the release of IVL, there has been more activity on the Ebay. Just do a search on "Tragically Hip".
Laters,
Highlander
Does anyone else play?
I find it a great game, alot of vilence. But a good game, very well done. The citys are huge!
I like putting some Hip tunes in the MP3 player in the car.
