I mean seriously, what is going on over there (besides nothing)? Remember with the previous releases how there would be teasers every few days - like stories behind each song, etc.? I expected there to be something interesting there today to mark the release, but nothing. Bah!

I had to get the dude at Zellers (They're the only thing open at 8am...) to bust me open a crate to get the CD! This guy was thrilled, THRILLED, that the Hip had a new release... seemed genuinely pulsed to have forty of them in his hands... so that put a smile on my face!

As I was leaving, I heard the first strains of "Heaven" lighting up the electronics department. So, if you're near Billings Bridge in Ottawa today: listening party at Zellers!

Well i've never met the boys and was dissapointed when i heard they were going to be at the edge at 2:30 as i had a meeting a 2, when i got back to my desk at 3:15 i checked out the hipbase and found out they were now going to be there at 3:30. I figured i had a 15 minute coffee break coming my way, so i headed up the road and couldn't believe there were only about 20 people there. I didn't have anything for them to sign so i headed across the road and picked me up a throw-away camera. Got back and listened to the interview of bookie talking to gord, gord and paul (this was the closest i had ever been to the boys only about 7 or 8 feet away) Did notice that bookie try to burn gord downie about wearing the same jacket as last week

After the interview was done I started to talk to Gord Sinclair, He was so down to earth and easy to talk to. I asked him several questions, from what i can remember here they are

1. Are the hip going to release their shows and sell them just like gord had down.

GS - he said they are in the works of finding out information about the best technology, and the best way to go about it, they're very interested in the idea (i got the impression that they want to do it but if they are still at the research stage right now and this might not be happening for this tour)

2. when are you guys going to release a dvd, your live stuff is awesome and i know many people are dying for a live dvd show.

GS- Where really into this, and we are well beyond the talking stage on this one, just trying to determine the right venue, location, timing. (Sounded like this was definite go and that they were probably going to record something on this tour. my personal opinion is that they will probably record something this tour and probably release it next year...once again just my opinion.)

3. Are you guys playing in houston at the allstar game.

GS- no, but gord is going down to do some stuff

4. Are you guys ever going to re-release any older hip (especially TATH) on vinyl like you did with DFN, and is IBE going to be available on vinyl.

GS- He said that he couldn't see it happening and that they don't record much on vinly in Canada and that it's mostly over in Europe.

5. How do you guys keep up this lifestyle with having families

GS - (jokingly says) wife wants me out of the house now, says i've been at home for to long.

6. Finally have you heard of the hipbase

GS, No

It's a web page with a chat fo....

GS, oh yeah i've heard of it

You should check it out sometime, lots of great info there

Asked Paul how he liked playing the small gigs again and if gord had messed up some of the lyrics in the calgary show

PL - it's great playing the small shows and i don't remember gord missing to many lyrics

Then I grabbed a picture with Gord Sinclair, and then got one with Gord Downie before him and the boys took off in a blue jetta

Man was i pumped, safe to say the rest of the day at work was a right off.

...they change producers more than any other artist i know..im not complaining because i love every disc..(although fully completly to me is wayyyyy too "over" produced..great tunes that could have sounded better on an album..)..don't know where i'm really goin with this...more of an observation than anything...i guess the beers are starting to go to my head as i enjoy the new album!!!

..and i love it!! won't spoil too much about it..but let's just say it rocks..to me it reminds me more of phantom power than road apples..but that's just my opinion..maybe it's the similarities in colour@!!
