Considering how many Calgarians are on this board, I thought this might be of some interest:

Calgary Hipbasers may have heard about the recent outbreak of E Coli near Westbrook Mall. I was one of the 12 to catch it last week, and I'm finally on the mend after nearly being hospitalized from the infection. The other people to get sick were my brother (who I was treating to dinner) and several members of a local highschool football team.

Anyway, I can't name the place while it's still under investigation, but it's in Westbrook Mall, and is still open and serving food. Anyone in the Calgary area may want to avoid the Westbrook Mall food court for the next few weeks. It should be shut down pretty soon, from what I've heard.

after 15 shows this was my first time seeing the hip in the usa... i was blown away.

aside from the wicked seats and set (fully, something on, scared, three pistols), the crowd was way better than i've seen north of the border in 5 years. i have a feeling that in the states there aren't very many people who kinda know a bit about the hip and decide to check'em out. your either a die hard from the area who is soo happy to see them at home or are a die hard canadian who is willing to make the trek. either was it was wicked.

all and all a great show and a great night (i won 160 bucks at the casino is sarnia on my way back to london... wooooooo that'll pay for my next 3 tix).

I'm here in Detroit with Hugh, Sean, Trevor, Yvan and Josh at a bar called "Honest John's."

Earlier today we went to The Fox to verify that video taping the show wouldn't be a problem. Hugh, Trevor and I talked to the Hip's tour manager, and were assured that taping is allowed!!! Woo Hoo!!!

After that, we walked out to our cars, and who should we see, but Gord Downie!!! Listening to his iPod. We didn't get a chance to talk to him, but he gave us the thumbs up, and pumped his fist in the air and said, "It's gonna be a good one tonight!"

Now... on with the real story. We drove down the 401 and passed "Downie Line." We walked to a local bar and over the door it said, "Thompson Ale" which is probably what a Thompson girl would drink.

I asked what beer was on tap and the waitress replied, "Guinness, Motor City Nut Brown, Motor City Ghetto Blaster, Oberon, Amstel Light, and Courage!!!!"

You know what we ordered.

All of this is being shared from a very seedy bar, in a very shady part of Detroit. We'll be back later with more stories from road.

i have right center orch-row C- seats 2-4. does anyone know how the seating goes at the theatre?? i either have great seats or i'm way at the end staring into a speaker. any help would be appreciated.

So....I'm getting psyched for Tuesday's show at the avalon....here's my dilemma....the sox could be tied with the yankees for the division if they sweep them this weekend and it looks like I may get two tickets to the sox game that TUESDAY NIGHT!...the guys I'm dragging along are not huge fans of the Hip, but know what a fan I am of the band. I have one of them converted enough for him to have bought the new album, the others are on the verge and I'm hoping a live show will take them over the edge! They want to try and scalp a couple tickets to the game, go to fenway and then to the avalon to catch the rest of the show...AGHHH!

a little back ground...we are all from Boston (area) and I have been to 50 or so sox games, but only 4 hip shows. I'm also seeing the Hip in October in Burlington.

I guess I'll go see the band and they can go see the game...
