Nothing makes me more angry than to hear someone say, "yeah I really like the Hip's older stuff, but their new stuff, isn't that good" or "damn, they've sold out"
That statement is complete fallacy, name me one, one damn band that hasn't changed their sound from day 1, and has lived to write about it. Listen to some old Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, or Beatles and tell me that they haven't/didn't change.
To me, putting out the same sound, the same song time after time would be much more detremental than changing with the times, exploring creatively and putting together new and fascinating works.
To all you 'naysayers' out there, and seeing as you're a member of the Hipbase I doubt there are that many of you, I challenge you to come to the table with 2 or 3 debatable topics to back your claim.
Until then, I rest, as a devoted Tragically Hip fan, from Small Town Bringdown to Goodnight Josephine...a woman so beautiful they named her Josephine.

Ralph Klein is an embarrassment to this province and the human race, I dislike this man with a passion. A few days ago at a Tory Rally here in Calgary, Klein decided to relate a story to the crowd about two female AISH (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped ) recipients who approached him during a sod turning explaining that they felt the AISH payments were not enough. Klein exclaimed they were "yipping about AISH payments." and "They didn't look severely handicapped to me. I'll tell you that for sure. Both had cigarettes dangling from their mouths, and cowboy hats." As we all know, no disabled people smoke or wear cowboy hats, especially in a province like Alberta. :roll: According to Peter Portlock, who runs the Alberta division of the Canadian Mental Health Association, more than half of the people in AISH have disabilities that are not recognizable to the eye. So in Ralphs infinite wisdom(ignorance), the next night in Grand Prairie he refused to clarify to reporters his statement from the night before and added to fuel to the fire by saying to the crowd "I'm not going to get into the game of reacting to the CBC. I'm sure none of you want to talk to me about AISH, do you? No, because you're normal, Severely normal people." Nothing like having an alcoholic premier. :thumb:

Number of clients: 1979 - 3,200 2004 - 32,000
Maximum Rate Per Month: 1979 - $370 2004 - $850
Budget: 1979 - $2.2 million 2004 - $394 million

From Sept 2003 to Sept 2004, 370 cases were investigated for fraud, of those 123 were substantiated , or .4% of all cases.

Hey folks...

I don't miss NHL hockey as much as I thought I would, but my desire for high-level competition is tempered by watching international tourneys that I have on VHS. Thus, here is my offer for all the hockey fans here who so badly need a fix.
On tape, I have:
1996 World Cup of Hockey (all games)
1998 Olympics (all games)
2002 Olympics (every game)
2004 World Championship (every game)
2004 World Cup of Hockey (every game)
I'm offering up the games for B&P, any game you want. Just send me a t-120 tape (I can fit two games on one t-120 tape), and enough for return postage (I have PayPal if it's easier), and I'll send back the game(s) you requested. So what attracts us to this song so much? One of my favs. Love when they play it live. So what is it exactly? Is it that we all have a relationship we can liken to drowning and dying a horrible death? What's up? Thoughts?
