well finally its official, gays and lesbians can get married in Canada.

I just hope this ends the over-done argument...and I hope everyone can move on. personally, this doesn't effect me at all (being straight and not belonging to a religous group), and I think our government has more important issues to deal with...like fixing the health care system, the armed forces, helping to end childhood poverty, getting Conan to come back to toronto...you know, those old chestnuts.

I know its not the most popular sport in these parts, but I know there's a few of you out there in Hipland that dig football (I refuse to call it soccer). From the looks of this pic, it looks like a serious discussion on what to play for an encore. This is what I love and respect about this band. After 20 years together, its still a group thing on what to play, and they even change things up on the spot. Some would say, after 20 years, can't you get your shit together and know what your playing, but I like the spontaneaity (did I spell that right?) of this band. Nothing is set in stone, nothing is as it seems, you just never know with the Hip....just awesome. I look back at the greatest band in the world, Led Zeppelin, and you see their live shows, as awesome as they were, it was the same set list every night for ever tour, starting from about 1973 to 1980. I wish they would have had this type of "bandmanship" as the Hip. I don't think there is any other band that fits the definition of BAND as much as Zep and Hip when it comes to importance of each member of the band, but the Hip take the cake as the complete and total package for every other aspect of being a band....hope this makes sense

This show was recorded in front of a small studio audience, made up mostly of media types, shortly after Road Apples came out. This show featured some interview tidbits in between the band playing the songs. Terry David Mulligan, of Muchmusic fame, was the emcee.

As many of you know, or have guessed, I'm a huge cycling nut. So, I have to ask, is anyone else following the Tour? Thoughts on Armstrong (a personal hero of mine, and to countless others, I'm sure), Team Discovery, Ullrich, Basso, Bob Roll's growing insanity? Some highlights thus far include a stage win for George Hincapie (one of Lance's key teammates), two different Americans in the yellow jersey (unfortunatly the *other* American, Zabriskie, crashed out within the first week and a half), and some really tight team riding during the team tt, by most everyone involved. That being said...thoughts? complaints? disinterst?

Notes: I finally was able to film a Tragically Hip show after I found
out about their pro-
taping policy. I tried on the last tour but my camcorder
died the day of the show.
This show was filmed stealth because the venue wouldn’t let
me in with a
camcorder and I didn’t think that The Hip’s crew would help
in getting it in.
With that in mind, it turned out not bad, though, not as
nice as if I had been
able to film in the way I would have liked. Unfortunately,
the audio is a bit
distorted as internal mics were used. My rig started to come
apart near the middle
of the show so that is why there are a few holes that needed
to be filled in (thanks
to Bootlegger420 for his footage shot with his digital
camera). In the confusion
my camcorder got switched into night mode so that is why the
footage gets a little
slow motion etc for a couple minutes. I would also like to
thank Chris for the
poster art that I used for the menu on disc 2 and
MountainHip for the great
photos he provided for a slide show. There are also a couple
of newspaper
reviews and an ad for the show. They can be accessed either
through a couple of
invisible links that will highlight when you press the
arrows the right way on your
dvd remote, or by the submenu.

I'm fairly moronic when it comes to tech stuff....
With that said, I have just downloaded a hip live download on flac...
but to listen or burn on cd, i have to convert the .flac files into .wav files...
Can somebody tell me how i'd go about doing that?

A NUMBER of television networks have pleaded with the National Hockey League to have access to the coming draft lottery.

However, the NHL, already overburdened with far too much publicity and an even greater amount of public goodwill, has imperiously rejected all of those pleas.

And who can blame them? It's far better to have these events conducted in secrecy. After all, a draft lottery which determines the future home of Sidney Crosby is none of the fans' business.

One of those television networks, somehow managing to remain unoffended by this haughty and condescending approach from the NHL, asked if it could take another tack.

With hockey about to come back into the sporting world, it seemed reasonable to assume that the league's public-relations department would be gearing up for a big splash.

The network made it clear that it would like to do a positive story, one known in the industry as a puff piece. Therefore, it requested permission to send over a cameraman and do some shooting in the PR offices.

The request was flatly denied.

Tell us again about the new, positive, fan-friendly NHL.
